How much $$ for school hot lunches??

Our elementary lunches just went up .10, from last year, to $2.10...includes milk.

For years we paid 1.50 but they went up to 1.75 this year. We have one of the best lunchrooms in the state. We have six stations that the kids can choose from. There is always pizza bar and salad bar. Then there is a choice of two different sandwiches, a hot lunch line and usually Mexican. I know it sounds great but after 4 years it has gotten old. the kids have to pick a line and only get stuff from it but we teachers can pick and choose which is nice. The do charge extra for fries each day and they have ice cream and fruit drinks extra as well so a child could spend a lot if they wanted to. We had the best plums this week that they got free as a commodity this week. They serve more fruit that sweets as desserts as well.

DD goes to private school and their lunches are $1.45 and she gets 2 choices and they always have a hotdog if she doesn't like the 2 choices.

If she takes a lunch and just buys milk, the milk is $0.30.

Even though her lunches are not as much as your childrens lunches, they do add up. So I told DD that she can buy lunch 3 days a week and take lunch from home the other 2. Or, she can take lunch as much as she wants. She agreed to this, and so far there has been no arguments.:)

Elementary......$1.35. Choice of cold bar(sandwiches) or hot bar.

Our Middle school (5-8 grade) lunch prices are:

Complete Lunch - 1.85
Main dish - 1.55
Side dish - .75
Fruit (1/2cup) - .45
Bread/rolls - .30
Extra condiments - .30
Milk - .35
Dessert - .40

Vendor pizza - 2.25
seconds on pizza - 1.75

I know the high school is more and a lot of the food varies.

Ours are $2.00.....there are usually four choices. Most kids do not take the number of sides (fruit, veggies, salad, bread) they are allowed. So far my DS has not wanted to eat "hot" lunch, the line takes away from extra play time!

This thread is very interesting.

I'm a cook at a elementary school, and I'm surprised that some of your kids only have a choice of two lunches.

Our schools offer the main lunch, which usually includes a hot item, some kind of potato, a vegetable, a dessert, fresh fruit and milk.

Every day, our kids also have a choice, if they don't want the main item, to substitute either a hamburger, cheeseburger, hot dog, bologna & cheese, peanut butter & jelly, a mini chef salad, hoagie, or fresh fruit platter. They also get the rest of the lunch menu items.

Not a bad deal for $2.10!

es schools pay a dollar here. I don't know about the others.
It's a good price but sometimes the meals reflect it. DS packs
often.

It is $1 all over the system here. You get extras for more. At high school we have can drinks (welches fruit juices) for .50 and bottled water for .75. At high school we have a lot of choices, in middle school i believe you can have the hot bar or salad bar and at 3-5 you choose between two things. I'm not sure about 1-2. I'm amazed at the prices of lunches out there!! Maybe it's just a southern thing or something! :)

Our small (about 150 students) private school has 2 lunch choices a day + salad is always available. Lunch including a milk is $3.50. I let my ds' pick 3 days a week to eat school lunch. We also have a microwave station so they can bring a frozen or heatable lunch.

Wow.. at the school I went to, school lunches have only risen 10 cents in 10 years, I have two cousins still in school.

Lunch is 1.00, if you don't want the hot line you can get the salad bar with an alternate entree for the same price. Grades 7-12 can purchase tea for 25 cents. The best part of lunch is that a lot of the stuff is actually made there, not frozen and shipped in. The lunch room ladies make all the rolls, sweet buns, chicken stew, chicken and dressing, and I LOVED eating at school!!

Snack is at the teachers' discretion, there is a canteen in school and usually each period takes up an order and runs down and picks it up. A 12oz soft drink and a bag of chips is $1.10.

Private school. $2.50 or 2.75 if they want a double helping of the main course.

Milk is extra. We pay for a whole year's worth with our tuition and fees. I can't remember but I think it was $75 for 2 kids.
