Hello! I'm heading to WDW 8 nights, 9 days in February 04 with my sister and a friend. We're staying at the Comfort Inn LBV so we're saving a fair bit on the hotel. We will also be taking full advantage of the complimentary breakfast in the morning as to save money. How much on average do you figure we will be spending on meals per day? We're all paying our own.

You need to give us a few more details. What kind of places will you be eating at such as counter service vs sit downs. Check out the DIS Menu Database for prices.

Well, I'm thinking we would like to do a few nice sit down meals (dinner most likely) lunch will be counter service.

Depending on what you consider "nice" sit down, I would think that $25-30 should be sufficient to eat a sit down meal in the parks (of course, this would be without alcohol). To save money, you could always order just an appetizer for your meal which would be around $10 or so.

As for counter service, most meals are around $7.

The cheapest idea would be to have lunch as your main sit down meal and then counter service/snacks for dinner. Check out the menus and they will give you a good idea of what is offered and how much it will cost. :D

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that. The parks will be closing early anyways considering we're there in February. Good plan.

WE usually allow $150 dollars per day for 4 of us

We just got back and for myself and my husband, we spent about $600.00 for an 8 day stay. That included having some alcoholic drinks and we ate 6 meals at table service restaurants.

I was actually pleased with the prices at most restaurants, we found that they were reasonable and the portions were huge (we're big eaters).

Have a great trip!

On our last trip, we averaged about $55/day for the 3 of us. We ate breakfast in our room. Lunch was usually counter service. Dinner was casual sit down or counter service or buffet. We bring snacks in with us and buy some as well.

Why don't you just visit this site with MENUS that will give you a pretty good idea on what you'll be spending. It's how I planned on where DH and I would be eating on our trip 2 years ago and also how I'm planning on our trip 3 years from now.

There is a poll over on the restaurants board that covers it. Some people spend $100 per adult per day - but they do a lot of sit down at nice places or several character meals, drink alcohol and/or often do three courses.

Other people manage to spend less than $25 per adult per day, but they don't eat sit down - or have a single meal sit down at lunch time when the prices are less expensive, eat breakfast in their rooms, don't drink alcohol, etc.

So the answer is....it really depends on you and how you want to spend your money and how much, how frequently, and how nice you want to eat. Its possible to go with $15 in your pocket (and your own water bottle and an energy bar in your fanny pack) for the day and not starve, and its possible to blow through $100 in a day.

Your best best - as mentioned - is to check out the menus and see for yourself. And - if budget is an issue - check out some of the tips for saving money (like having your sit down meal at lunchtime).

My former budget trips were breakfast in the room (pop tarts, coffee, juice, etc), a small snack (brought in) around 10:00am (like a granola bar). A large late lunch sit down (you don't pay that much more, the food is better, there is more of it, and you get out of the lines at crunch time), then a bedtime snack of microwave popcorn.
