I was wondering if anyone knows how much it costs to hire one of the private guides that you see walking around wearing the plaid vests? I mostly see them at MK.

Thanks!

Lisa

Do you get front of the line access, do they plan your day, or is it just someone to "guide" you around? How do you book them?

I dont' think you get front of the line. When we were there in Dec, There was a guide with a couple who were from Japan who lived like 10 miles from DIsney. They waited in line like the rest of us.

So, what did the Guide do for the 70 minute wait at Splash Mtn? :teeth:

I want that job.... I'll be someones guide for 100 bucks and hour. I'll just print out the tips and secrets here and share them with the people.

Well, are you sure they are guides? We did the Family Magic Tour a few years back and our Tour leader was dressed in plaid vest and plaid skirt. It was quite fun...I think it was like $25 or so per person and if you have been to the MK many times before and are looking for simething different to try I would highyl reccomend the Family Magic TOur. It was great...Oh yeah we did get to ride a ride at hte end and we rode with a character and went to the front of the line :-)

Yes they are guides. I have a friend who works guest relations at MK and this is part of his job. He does this with celebrities mostly and some Disney execs. During ESPN weekend he was assigned some of the hosts from ESPN. They dont get that fee Disney does. There is no front of the line access.

The guides will be your runners for FPS. They will coordinate meals for you.

You likely saw the Keys to the Kingdom or Family Magic Tours, each of which are EXCELLENT things to do. I believe Keys still gets some front access during the tour. If any family is a Disney regular or into Disney World history/make up, take one of the tours. They are a great way to spend an afternoon.

These private guides cost at least $100 a hour & YES you get to go right to the front of the line. I have friends who used this service all the time.
They stopped after one night they went to MK..unascorted...and their then 8 year old did not stop whinning about "waiting in line". They figured just maybe he was getting a bit too spoiled!

I told them to leave him home & take me...I am unspoilable!!!!!! :wave2:

the cost of the private VIP guide service is $125/hour with a 5 hour minimum.
You do NOT get front of the line, but the guide will run around and get fastpasses using your tickets (in other words, the guide becomes your fastpass commando), but the FP works just like for 'regular' guests. No special FP advantages.

The only preferential treatment is reserved seating at some shows.
However, considering the minimum you have to pay is $625, that's a bit steep just to get preferred seating at a few shows.

I considered the service (and spoke with them a few times) but since it didn't include front of the line, it wasn't worth it to me to pay someone to be my commando (and then sort of be an 'odd man out' to our family unit). What we most enjoy about the parks is the 4 of us, just hanging out together, regardless of what it is we are doing.

Its just not for celebrities. I arranged a guide for my boss' trip a couple of years ago. It was a breeze. They picked him up at the hotel, brought them to the parks, toured them around and no it did not include front of the line access. They did have reserved seating at parades, fireworks, etc. It doesn't interest me, but it was the only way to get him to WDW!

You also have to remember, these people are PROS at "doing" Disney....so what they do...beside Fastpasses is "stear" you in the directions of places and rides where you won't have to wait. YOu do NOT get front of line privledges. Neither do the "stars" that get them.

ALSO, they are full of trivia and info on Disney, sort of like a modified "keys to the Kingdom" tour. They don't get backstage access, but they will talk your ear off about everything Disney.

I went this Memorial Weekend with my family, and we used Michael's Vips instead of Disney. They were about $95 per hour (comparable to Disney), and we loved it. The guy who runs the company is a former Disney VIP tour guide, and all his tour guides are former Disney as well -- they totally know their stuff. We didn't wait more than 5-10 minutes for any line at all (weren't commandoed by a "sheepdog" tour guide, got lots of rest, and they booked all out PS's for us (even got us a last minute Crystal Palace lunch at a great table - it was "unavailable" everytime my mom tried make a PS). I was really by impressed our guide - she worked so hard to make everything perfect for us! :mickeybar

I'd highly recommend them (even over Disney - no silly plaid vests!) :earboy2:
