We just got back from the June 12-19 Eastern Magic trip, 2 adults, one eight year old. We are not big drinkers, bought only 4 alcoholic drinks; 2 key chains@ $4.00 each; Christmas ornament for $12, which I thought was reasonable (however, there were others that were more expensive); photos, probably around $80, which was extremely conservative, and planned, on our part-the pictures we tookwith our cameras turned out great;
Banana Boat on CC, about $35; tips to everyone, again, planned, but my husband tipped the cabin steward $25 over the required amount; perhaps a few other things I have forgotten about, but our bill was about $700, again, much of it tips. On all the islands combined, we spent around $100 for items and sea dos, which was $40 of the $100. I think the biggest thing they get you on is the pictures, BUT, to Disney's credit, I was very impressed with the fact that EVERY photographer would always step aside for us to take pictures first, then they would take theirs. This way, I knew we would have good pictures head on, and would not have to worry much about buying theirs. Because of this, we stuck with our budget on the ship. My husband makes well, we could have certaintly afforded to spend more, but we really felt we could manage by doing most of our own pictures, as well as our own excursions, and it paid off, both financially, as well as we had a wonderful trip. If you want to have a reasonable billl when you get off the ship, it is certaintly possible. It is also certainly possible to get carried away by having a card at your every whim. Be forewarned: the pictures in Shutters are cute, and the buying frenzy can be contagious!!!
