How much does it honestly cost you to drive to WDW from Ontario?

is that one way or round trip? When I plugged in our info it was 400 one way!

That would be round trip. My Traverse gives a $383 estimate round trip based on 24 mpg (9.8l/100km). That's actually a pretty realistic number for my SUV on the open highway and not TOO heavily loaded. I'll probably actually get in the low 10's with 4 people and luggage.

For $400 one way you would only be doing about 11 mpg. If you put in your own information, did you check the units? Maybe you put in 11 mpg when you thought it was 11 l/100km?

We drive from Durham Ont to Tampa. We have a mitisbisi Lancer.
$320.00 round trip plus some driving while there.

LOL-I just assumed that Toronto to Orlando meant one way! So it looks like we would be in the 400 range round trip if that is the case, makes it a little more enticing to drive that long...

June 28 my daughter and I did the drive, my first time since bussing it many years ago. We're in the Hamilton area, about 50 minute drive to Buffalo. Driving a Ford Edge to our condo just west of a Disney World, took just under $400 in gas. Stayed at the La Quinta hotel in Columbia SC on the way down, $95 Cnd total with breakfast and a pool. On the way back stayed at a Budget motel in Wythville Virginia, about $80, but not as nice as the Quinta. Nice drive, most roads were 65 and 70 mph.

I didn't need to give any info. My fly vs drive cost was $1400 vs $500. I think we will stick with driving.

Driving or flying will always be a personal preference. We flew once on Sunwing out of Toronto and it was fine. DD just wants to get there DS doesn't care either way and DW loves Savannah on the way down. People factor a $ amount of travel time. Car wear and tear, weather, traffic etc. Just get there is my mantra :thumbsup2

The one big factor to consider drive vs fly is time of year. I have always flown via Buffalo, love jet blue, and flown in Sept or Oct. This past March DW wanted to go for spring break, not a fan of crowds but keep her happy. Booked our flights 880US out of Buffalo and BAMM. Biggest snow storm of the year, we got to the airport and they said they couldn't get us out till Friday, it was Tuesday. Pack up, jump back in the car and head back to north of TO. What should have been a 3 hour drive turned into 7 hours.
This March 2015 we are trying the drive for the first time, I can drive in any snow conditions, lived in Lake Louise in the winter, so here we go.

DH and I just had this conversation. I wanted to fly down for our next trip. Jet Blue out of Syracuse could get us there and back for less than $600. But this is February we're talking about. The thought of a lake effect snow dump on our departure day :faint: Since we're retired, if we drive we can leave a day or two early if necessary to avoid any approaching storms.

Even with just 2 of us, it usually works out OK. We drive a Volvo, so our gas costs would be around $350. We bring a cooler for lunches and snacks, have a free breakfast at the hotel, so only need to pay for dinner enroute. Usually at whatever is close to the hotel. And as for hotels, we stay free! Yep, DH is away a few weeks each year on some consulting work and accumulates a lot of points with Marriott. So we use some of those points to stay at Fairfield or Courtyard inns on the way there and back. I can't stand sitting in the car for too long, so we have 2 nights at hotels on each leg of the trip.

Honestly, I'd rather fly. But for us it is cheaper to drive and we have the luxury of time. And DH isn't a huge Disney fan, but enjoys long distance driving. For me - there aren't enough o's in booooooooooooring, but hey - throw the poor man a bone.
