I may be missing something but I have not seen a shortage of people willing and choosing to work at Disney. Hence, the pay is what the market dictates.
Companies pay executives more because thats what the market price is.
When I took my job, I was told I shold have asked for money - it was a chance I was unwilling to take - there were several people willing to take the job I was offered and at the time, I was unemployed and had no bargaining power. So, I took what was offered and was happy. IF, I had a job, or a special skill set or experience that was quite limited in scope, I am sure I would have asked for more and expected to recieve it. If the company said no, oh well, thats their right and I can move on to the next opportunity.
Its a free market economy. Disney participates in it and does quite well. When you see help wanted signs hanging up at the Dole Whip stand, you will know that there may be time for a change.
Anyone see those signes lately?
