How much does Contact Us know about codes?

So, I decided to enter some really old Sparrow codes today that I had forgotten about. At various times when I entered a code, the window wouldn't pop up telling me what I had won. I exited the room and went to another guest room and entered the next code on the list. The window popped up every time after switching rooms. So then I would go back to the code that the window didn't pop up for and enter it again and the window would pop up saying that it didn't recognize the code.

So my question is since these were Sparrow codes, and we obviously don't know what the codes are going to give us, if I sent a message to Contact Us with all the codes that didn't work, would they be able to tell me what each code should have given me?

This just happened with two holiday cards I tried to enter yesterday. The messages about receiving the items didn't pop up, so I reentered them and all the sudden the codes were not valid. I used Contact Us and got banned.... Go figure.

:sad2: Banned for codes. That is just nuts when there are people that really should be taken care of and banned and it wouldn't be for codes.

And with more then one person having problems you have to wonder if there is a bug in the system right now or what. Really it seems there customer service is just getting worse and worse instead of better.:sad2:

Hopefully those that are having problems can get things fixed and the ban reveresed for something so silly.

So is there a chance of me using Contact Us to ask about this WITHOUT getting banned?

Yeah. I think mine is a special case :( I would say at least try it. I was just saying I was having the same issue as you where I would enter codes and no message would come up and I would reenter them and they would be invalid.

Mint, when you entered the codes, was there a lot of lag that day? And did you check your inventory to see if there were any extra items? I know for me when there is lag, the code message doesn't come up but the items are there.

I was going to suggest the same thing, to check your inventory. There have been times where no message popped up and it would seem like I did not get the item. But when I checked inventory, it was there.

I tested this by using a mule that had nothing in inventory. I entered some codes and no message, nothing. But when I checked the inventory there was either the silly monkey, ugly organ, dead chest or poster (no sparrow suit of course). Since I don't actually care for those items, I entered them on this mule just to make sure I was getting the item. You may want to try to see if this is the case.

as well. I had a couple work but the rest say code is not-valid. These codes were fine two week's ago. I dunno. Maybe they expire???

You know, I thought about that as well and tried it, but I didn't know how many monkeys, organs, chests, and posters I had prior to entering the "dud" codes, so I didn't know if any extra were added. I know for sure, though, that there were no Sparrow suits, however.

I really would just like Contact Us to tell me what the codes would have given me, whether or not I actually got the item. I just want to know if one of those was a suit code. I doubt it, but you never know.

As for lag, it didn't really seem that laggy, but I didn't do anything, either. I just went in my room and started entering codes, so I didn't have much time to check the amount of lag.

The coding system is not a set code it varies and the staff cannot tell you what a given code will produce unless it is one of the longstanding permanent codes and they recognize it as such.

So contacting them would most likely make them upset because that is not a true emergency, that is why when writing down codes triple check to make sure of your characters. It is not staff's responsibility to help you figure out what you wrote wrong (which in 99% of the cases is really the problem).

Sorry, I know that this is not much help. The source of this info is from 3 other VMK forums, so it is not just my opinion.

Good Luck

Actually, it seems that the past week or so a number of people, myself included, have been entering codes and not receiving their rewards. Mine definitely was not a case of writing codes down wrong because no message popped up. I have heard of at least five other cases of this happening in the past week. It's a VMK problem that needs to be taken care and I suggest contacting VMK to at least let them know that there is a problem.

I have the "no message" thing happen to me a lot when entering sparrow codes. However, when I check my inventory, I have ALWAYS received the items even though I didn't get the pop-up.

Like Iris, I use a mule with nothing in her inventory whenever I enter sparrow codes, so it's a very easy thing for me to check.

I'm sure the items were deposited into your inventory. That's why the next time you enter the SAME code, it's telling you that code is "invalid" because you have already entered it and received the item.

You know, that entering on a mule thing is a really good idea. I've just been reluctant to try that because Mnementh needs credits and I wanted to sell the things on Mnementh, since I obviously can't trade them to him from a mule.

Yes but your mule can sell the things, then buy what you want and trade that to Mnemnth... Or so I have heard :rolleyes1

:rotfl: Yeah, normally you'd be right but I like to trade credits for things and none of my mules have a kiosk.

Ok in regard to your very first post i know EXACTLY what happened. If you read my post about VMK central you will see the same problem. See sometimes when you log on to VMK the server will glitch and strange things that aren't suppose to happen do happen. According to the CM at VMK Central what happened to you is the message glitch. Now at VMK Central I entered a few codes fine and then eventually the messages stopped so I tried about 3 more cards and then i got the white crash. So i log back in and the first thing I get is the message saying they are invalid already in my mail. I call over the CM and this happens because since the message doesn't come everything on your avatar gets backed up and the codes get jumbled together because it has not processed the first code you entered, so when you entered the 2nd, the server messed the 2 up with each other and it created an invalid code causing you to crash and for some reason it won't recognize it again. Luckily the CM was able to give me new cards for all the cards I tried but beware when you are entering codes. Try not to have anything else running on your computer and try sending a message before entering codes or visit a NPC just to make sure. You wouldn't want to lose a sparrow outfit just because your computer was acting strange :scared1: .

Disniplaya

and the contact us does help, I sent in a VMK Pin Code that was faulty and did get some help.

The other day I sent in a problem with one of my Pirates codes to Contact Us and I got a canned reply saying I need to give them the exact code where it came from and what it was for.

I sent a reply back saying the exact code and that it was a pirates code so I didn't know what the prize would be.
Then, I got a reply saying that my case was closed even though I never got
a straight answer from them!

So I'm not sure you will even be able to get an idea of what the prize was.
