Just curious if anyone has ever worn a pedometer while walking around a park at WDW. How many miles did you log on? I'm trying to walk 5 miles every other day or so in preparation for our trip.
Thanks! :cool1:

I dont know exactly how much

but my feet usually feel like its at least 1,800 miles a day :earboy2:

Oh, that is a great idea!! I never thought to bring my pedometer, but I think I'll give it a try on the next trip!
Felt like I walked a million miles a day, between the parks and the resort. But worth it!

this past Oct there were a few times I was up to 30,000 steps per day
so whats that? about 18miles?
maybe closer to 12?

I brought mine to SeaWorld on our last visit. We did MUCH less walking than normal because we had a cranky 5 year old neighbor with us, and we still did over 6.5 miles between 9AM and 5PM. I'm taking it to Epcot on Sunday- it will be interesting to see how that turns out, as it's just our family, and we are the 'commando' type all the way!

I had a pedometer on my last trip. I didn't change the stride (I think I take bigger strides than it was set for) but I averaged about 7.5-8 miles a day (until I lost it at MGM on the fourth day :sad2: ). I bought it at Walmart in the sports section for about $3.50. The day I lost it was rainy when we were taking rain jackets on and off. It's very easy to lose those things.

Also, it's hard to really log miles correctly. Sometimes you're taking very small steps while in line for a ride or other times you're taking larger ones when you're rushing to get to a ride.

Also, depending on where you clip it to you it will log different amounts. I noticed that it logged much less when clipped on my side in front (closer to my belly button) as opposed to closer to my hip.

I took the results with a grain (or shaker) of salt :flower:

We just returned & I had my pedometer on me every day. On the Park days, I did between 16,000 and 20,000 steps per day. I have no idea how many miles this equates to since each step is a different distance. It felt like a lot, but it wasn't overwhelming (at least not to me --- my kids were exhausted since we didn't do strollers. They are 4 & 8).

on our last trip i averaged about 8 miles/day.

My pedometer that is still programed from my 2002 trip says:

31.31 miles
82681 steps
3919 calories (I ate that in one bite of my Mickey ice cream sandwich)

We were there for 8 days (2 of them travel ones so we didn't do alot of walking).

We stayed at the Polynesian & walked to the TTC from there vs taking the monorail to EPCOT.

We probably walked EPCOT 3 times if not more along with the other parks.

I am hoping to beat that this year which is why I haven't erased it yet.

I wore mine in '04 and remember that I walked 10 miles at Epcot. All the others were a little less.

I wore a really nice one programed to my average stride a couple of years ago. It ranged from approx 5 to 7 miles per day. (There was one 3 mile day that trip, but we spent most of that day at TL)

We have a hand-held GPS unit that dh was experimenting with in the parks. It tracked about 5 miles per day for us. It's pretty accurate, but I'm sure other people could do more walking than we do. (We usually go to two parks/day and have a few hours back in the room between.)

My ds was 7 he wore the pedometer and averaged about 5-7 miles a day. I guess it depends on how much backtrazcking and crisscrossing the parks you do. :cool1:
