How much do you tip Mousekeeping?

I read on the boards somewhere that a dollar per person per day is standard. I hadn't tipped much before in a hotel, but we did in January (with a 2 yo, there is always a mess!).

Really? I was thinking between $5 and $10....well thats great!

Family of 4 here...we leave $5.00 a day.
On our last trip, we saw the Mousekeeper while we were packing on our departure day & DH gave her $20.00.

$5/day here too. That's really true regardless of whether we are talking about WDW or any stay more than one night.

For me, if I am in for one night only, I will leave a couple of dollars.

Thanks! And I heard that the towel animals come only when they are tipped good- this is our one and only trip so I would just love to see a towel animal (yah I am a dork). Is that true?

I think the towel animals depends on the mousekeeper rather than the tips (although it probably does help).

We tip either 4 or 5 a day for our family of 4. We have always gotten lucky with extra lotions, soaps, and lots of towel animals. One day, the mousekeeper took our stuffed animals, put them on the bed and surrounded them by some chips and canned soda we had in the room. They were having a picnic on the bed! It was too cute. Some of the mousekeepers are very original, and IMO they are always grateful for the tips and extremely friendly. I do however, believe that tipping is by choice and not mandatory.

The kids decorate plain envelopes with markers, stickers, etc to help. The kids also left a note of gratitude every day.

Have a blast!

How cute! And thanks!

I have to agree that I think it depends on the castmember if you get the towel animals or not. We've tipped (probably too generously if anything) and had nothing special to speak of. When I took my family for their first Disney trip, I was clueless about tipping Mousekeeping and never left a thing-and we had different towel animals every day. Go figure. :confused3

Sounds like something that would happen to me :rotfl2:
