For the little amnenties in the values and the over inflated and rising cost of such rooms....Disney as big as they are should be paying their staff better and not leaving it up to guest to do! Then again Disney is smart. Why pay better wages when the paying guest will do it?!

They pay their staff what they pay them:ni: They don't leave it up to the guest, you are not obligated to leave a tip. I do it because its HARD WORK cleaning up someone elses mess-some more, some less and I truly appreciate it wether its their job to do it or not. I would MUCH rather tip someone for doing a thankless job like that, than tip a wait staff to bring me a plate of food!! JMO. A few dollars in their pockets I hope goes a long way to feed and cloth their family. Still at the end of the day, its more than a few I would imagine.

I tip $1 per person per day for Mousekeeping and $1 per bag for bell boys

I do $1 per person per day for Mousekeeping. I do think Disney pays their staff better than most resorts. Many housekeepers make close to minimum wage with no benefits - and their job is physically demanding. I make sure to leave a tip for housekeeping where ever I stay, and I never leave a mess.

Mousekeeping envelopes: I printed some from Mouseforless.com, I also found some from somewhere else but I couldn't get them to print right. Next trip DD will be older and I'll just let her decorate some with stamps and stickers.

We tipped bell staff $1 each bag and that was only for our luggage, we had made a grocery stop and I did not tip for all those shopping bags.

We also had a town car service and I think it was one of owners that was our driver, not sure the protocol for that but he was great and my dad tipped him really well.

I agree......it is hard work. Whether it is Disney or anyplace else, I tip each day.

I leave it on the sink and you have to make sure it's in a clearly marked envelope or they will not take it.

Dh handles the bell boy tips, usually a twenty (there are two adults, two "little' girls, and all of our assorted junk--my knitting bag, etc, so lots of little worrisome things vs big luggage.)

I leave a tip for house keeping, anywhere from 3-5 per day, we dump out the backpack each night, and if there is a 5 dollar bill, a five it is, or however many ones we have...easy for us, and it averages to about 3-4 per day over 7 nights...

My personal tipping preferences are the following:

Mouskeeping - $5 - $10/night [I am a 'messy' vacationer and have no problems admitting it]

Bell Services - $1 - $2 per bag. I had an awesome CM at POFQ named Mickey who went over and above the call of duty when handling our bags for our return trip on the ME that I tipped him $15 for handling 5 bags. It was a pleasure to tip him!

Just as an FYI, I'll include Valet as I use that service a lot.

Valet - $2 on pickup for full-size car, $5 on pickup for an SUV

I just made my envelopes the other day! It was very exciting, just makes the trip seem even closer! And I needed some time to accumulate a bunch of singles to individually fill the envelopes. I got some graphics from themouseforless, did some cropping and make really cute envelopes. I, too, leave them on the sink before I leave in the morning to go play.

Oh and to answer the question, I put $2 in each envelope for DBF and myself.

Housekeeping: $5.00/day for above and beyond, then less from there. Minimum would be $2.00/day.

DIS boards changed my tipping, too!

During our earlier trips, we would leave a tip at the end of the week, somewhere around $15. After reading, I also began making mousekeeping envelopes at home with my daughter. We have fun creating them and filling them before we go. We leave $1 pp per night. We leave the envelope on the pillow. Bell Services gets $1 per bag, plus a couple of extra bucks. We have tipped Magical Express drivers too. It really is such a minute amount when you think about how much money the trip costs!

Our best mousekeeper was at PO Riverside. Everyday we would return to find the many stuffed animals rearranged a different way! How she remembers, I don't know, but we took a picture every day and they were all different! I don't think we got towel animals at POR, but we didn't miss them!

Housekeepers generally work very hard, Disney or otherwise. It's not an easy job. Disney trips tend to be quite busy, and anytime someone shares a time saving idea, I appreciate it.

We stayed at POFQ last year with 2 adults and 2 children. We left the bellboy $10 for bringing up our luggage which was 3 suitcases and 2 duffle bags. The kids and I made cute little envelopes with Disney Character stickers on them from the dollar store and wrote Mousekeeping on them. We put them all in the safe and each day before we left we put one out on the end of the bed. Most days we got cute little animals set out around the room. The kids just loved that. I know some people don't agree on tipping but to me it is just a way of saying thank you for a job well done. Most of us going to Disney have great salaries and are blessed above and beyond our means. These employees are trying to take care of their families on a much smaller income and really appreciate and rely on making tips. It can also be a great example of having a giving spirit with your children. I include my children in making the envelopes and talk to them about how Jesus wants us to always be a blessing to others and this is just another way we can serve the Lord. It is amazing how much children can understand. We are looking forward to our next trip to POFQ Sept 15-23rd Yeah!

We tip Mousekeeping $5 per day. That is with me straightening up pretty good before we head out to the parks. We have 5 in our family. Unless my mom goes and she has a room too. She also tips $5 a day so that is $10 per day for 2 rooms with 6 people. I have always had a nice clean room from values to moderates. They do a good job.

The only time I've tipped housekeeping was on the cruise, but they weren't even called housekeepers..they're cabin stewards and they go the EXTRA mile besides just cleaning. It is a tipped position or at least it's recommended on each cruise line and you have the same one all week.

I'll probably get flamed..but I don't tip the housekeepers at a hotel, disney or otherwise. It's a salaried position.

I do tip the bell services $1.00 per bag..

The only time I haven't tipped a bell services person was at the GF when he brought our bags SOAKED through and through, but he was dry as a bone.
