how much do you tip housekeeping and the bell boy

We tip housekeeping $1 for each person in the room which for us is $4. We don't make a big mess in the room. We only used Bell Services once on the trip and we tipped the bellman $10 because we had 8 bags. We had to pack dress clothes for a wedding so we had more luggage than usual!

We always tip $1.00 per bag, and $3.00 for mousekeeping each night. One day the mousekeeper left loads of extra shampoo and various other toiletries for us when I asked for an extra bottle of shampoo. I tipped her $5.00 the next day. Our room was always spotless and anything extra we needed was provided. I made cards to tuck the tip in and wrote a note of thanks and asked for whatever we needed. I had the same mousekeeper each day of my stay with one exception. I don't think that's always the case, though.

We also tipped the Magical Express driver on the way back to the airport. We flew Southwest and he had to load and unload all our bags for us, as well as for tons of other people going. It wasn't easy by any means, and he really appreciated the tip.

Mousekeeping: $1 per person per day. I'm usually solo, though, so I often leave $2 per day.

Bellman: $1-2 per bag. Sometimes I add extra if they go out of their way to tell me about the resort, etc.

where do I begin...:rotfl: Starting with transportation, we always used Mears for our shuttle service. We always tipped the driver around $7 each way, they always give great service and provide you with really fun trivia on the ride from MCO to our resort, they are really great!! When we arive at the resort we always tip the CM that brings us and our bags to the room about $4-5. Room service usually gets about $4-5 as well. As for House keeping, we leave $15-20 for the week. If they are out standing(which is more often likely) we always like to leave more, depending on the service. Some people call us CRAZY :lmao: but they way we look at it is these CM and various Disney staff bust their little tail feathers to provide us with a magical and worry free vaction, so the least we can do is too generously reward them for all their hard work, care, and devotion.:thumbsup2

Also I wanted to throw in to the mix, Ive personally been going to WDW for over 20 years now, I personally have left cash, jewelry, etc out in the open (by accident in some cases) and come "home" to find it still there, down to the penny! ( I actually left my earrings/rings next to the sink once while at the pool and the HK actually moved them away to a safer spot on the counter top!! I was so great ful to her ! I cant imagine how upset I would have even if they had gotten misplaced or fallen down the sink!!!) The point Im trying to get to is these CM and other staff are so thoughtful and down to earth, I find them very honest and trust worthy! a rare quality to find these days! :thumbsup2

We just got back from staying 4 nights at Acadia House, Port Orleans Resort. My husband and I were the only two in our room we left the Mousekeeper $5.00 the first night and then $10.00 each night thereafter. We had a wonderful Mousekeeper. We left her thank you notes every day and were able to meet her the last day of our stay. She was so very greatful to us we got a picture with her. She was a very special lady and left us towel animals twice and always left us extras every day. We will never forget her!!! :wizard: :wizard: :flower3: :flower3:

I have always tipped $5 per day for mousekeeping and there are 3 of us but she has to deal with messy diapers. Not fun. And I tip $2 per bag which usually comes to $10 since we had 5 bags. I always make up my mousekeeping envelopes before we go and leave one out every day.

Bell services.....$2.00 per bag

Mousekeeping.....$5.00 for the am service
$3.00 for turndown

3 people in the room

We tip mousekeeping $1.00 per day, per person staying in the room, usually equalling (sp?) $4 or $5 per day.

I also tip the bellman $2.00 per bag, which usually comes to $10. :)

For Bell Services we tipped $2 per bag, Mousekeeping $1 per person per day, and Valet Services $5 as they bring us the car.

In '06 we stayed at ASMo and didn't know you should tip...call us dumb. When we got home and started readind the DISboard for our '07 trip we realized the error of our ways. Figure that's why we had so-so service and why we never had towel animals, cute things in the window, etc. So I went prepared in '07...3 of us in the room $5 a night. Never had a towel animal, animals in the window nothing. My husband thinks we need to cut back to $3 for '08, but we will stick with the $5 and hope the next housekeeper realizes there is a child in the room that would love to see a towel animal or something.

For us it would depend on who you ask. If its my husband then he would say we always leave two ($2) a day (4 people in the room-2 being kids) BUT, since I was the one leaving the tips in the room, there was always 4-5 dollars in the envelope. :rotfl2: He always thought it was crazy to leave anything (old school) well, I had to set him straight and that is how I got the $2 out of him (lucky me) I LOVE to tip...it makes me feel really good and he will never know!!:goodvibes

This tipping thing is really getting out of hand. I mean, what don't we tip people for now a days? I would never have thought to leave 5 dollars every day to tip the houskeeping. If anything I'd leave 5 bucks after a 4 day trip as we're leaving...

Oh and the bellboy can have 5 bucks but honestly I rather just carry the darn bags in myself.

For the little amnenties in the values and the over inflated and rising cost of such rooms....Disney as big as they are should be paying their staff better and not leaving it up to guest to do! Then again Disney is smart. Why pay better wages when the paying guest will do it?!

Like others, we do $5 a day for housekeeping for four of us - honestly, there wasn't a lot to do- we kept the room really clean, but she was very good - we had towel animals a couple of days and loads of toiletries each day.

As far as not tipping housekeeping - we've always done this at any hotel - not just Disney - as far back as I can remember my parents always left a couple of dollars for housekeeping when we were on vacation.

We also tip Mousekeeping $1 per person per day.

And, although my husband says that I'm being anal, I prefer to leave the tip each day -- rather than all of it at the end of the week. That is my way of making certain that that day's housekeeper gets the tip. I do not know for sure that a single room has the same housekeeper every day. Could be. But even if that is the case, she/he gets a day off sometime. If you leave your $20 on the housekeeper's day off, then somebody else could be hitting the jackpot. You can view it as "It will all come out in the wash" -- and that's OK, too. Heck, maybe the housekeepers pool their tips (but I doubt it!).

It's probably my way of maintaining some control over who gets my tips.

I tip Mousekeepers $5 per day and we are 3 adults in the room.
We tip the Bell Hop $2 per bag.
I make Mousekeeping envelopes before leaving. I have already saved for, and filled my envelopes for my October trip.
We leave one envelope every day, not at the end of the week.
We tip this way wherever we travel, not just Disney.

This is a great idea! I plan on following your example. Thanks!
