How much do you tip hair stylist for a redo?

I got highlights on Saturday and wanted something a little lighter than my natural shade (which is very dark brown, almost black). Anyway the highlights came out pretty blonde, and I was kind of shocked at first. I asked her not to make me blonde. She could tell I wasn't very happy, so she said to sleep on it and if I still didn't like it, then to come back in. Well I can't get used to it, so I'm going in today to have her fix it.

How much do I tip to have her fix it? I've already paid $125 for the highlights and cut before. I'm not sure how she will fix it. Hopefully she can just put some darker toner on it. Thanks for any opinions, especially from any hair stylists out there!

I agree. She is fixing your hair to your liking which is what good stylists aim for. I would think she values having repeat customers, building up her clientiele, and getting good word of mouth that she does good work and will correct something to make you happy. I am in a similar position right now but didn't have the offer to correct coloring. I recently had my hair highlighted and I think my hairdresser went way too light. She loved it but could tell I wasn't thrilled. It's not horrible, mind you, just lighter than I wanted (I have dishwater blonde hair and now it is lifted to a surfer blonde shade). Add another twist, my husband loves it and wants it to stay but I know how much better it would look with lowlights. I will probably not have it corrected until after summer becuase we have a busy summer planned but would have liked her to offer to fix it in a few days, even though I wouldn't have taken her up on it.

I would not tip to have it fixed. You've all ready (I assume) tipped for the 1st visit.

I also would not tip if you did tip the first time. You let her know what you wanted, she didn't listen, it's her job to fix it!

Thanks for the comments! I did already tip her and have been going to her for almost 2 years. Also I have referred 4 friends to her in the past, so hopefully she knows I appreciate her! Thanks again!

As a stylist I wouldn't expect you to tip again. I also would not accept a tip if you tried to give one.
