The last three trips we have gone with free dining. Last trip we stayed at POP, and had to pay $32 per day for our family of 4 (3 A, 1 C) to upgrade to the standard dining plan. So that's about $260, plus we spent another $188 on food and tips over the course of the trip. We got about $1357 worth of "free food" though.
The previous two trips were 3 people (2 A, 1 C), and we had full-on free dining. Including tips, we spent $128 over 10 days, but also got $877 of "free food". The year before we didn't keep close track, but it would probably be similar.
(Yes, I realize the food is not truly free, as this discount is in lieu of a room discount in all cases, but that is how I calculate.)
In 6 weeks we are going back without the
DDP. We are not eating TS, except to eat at SFDI and Rainforest Cafe. I am budgeting $75 per day for the non-TS days, plus $60 for each of the TS meals.(CS estimate $14 per meal per adult, $7 per child.) If we were doing a TS and a CS a day, I would probably budget about $120 a day. ($50 per adult, and $20 per child)
We typically don't do the 2TS restaurants, though typically splurge on 1 per trip. For most of those, I would budget about $60 per adult, and $25 per child.
