Hey all,

While reading through many threads here, and the bra thread more specifically, I always realize different people have different habbits in spending money. Sometimes I see amounts mentioned from which I think "so much money for that!" and sometimes I think "are you able to find that for such a small amount of money?"

So, how much do you spend on the following items/ services:

- Bra
- Panties
- Shoes ("real" shoes)
- Sneakers/ sport shoes
- Jeans
- (T)shirts
- Hairdresser
- Manicure/ pedicure
- Vacation (per person)

Note: this is not to brag, just to get a view on people's ideas about how much you can spend on what item/ service.
If you have some you want to know about, we can always add it to the list!

Here I go:

- Bra: Simone Pérèle, +/- 85 EUR ($106), Wonderbra Pure +/- 35 EUR ($44)
- Panties: Simone Pérèle (matching with the bras) +/- 40 EUR ($49) or DIM/ Sloggi +/- 10 EUR ($12)
- Shoes ("real" shoes): somewhere between 90 and 175 EUR ($112 and $219)
- Sneakers/ sport shoes: between 50 and 100 EUR ($62,5 and $125)
- Jeans: +/- 50 EUR ($62,5)
- (T)shirts: around 30 EUR ($37) for t-shirts and between 50 and 100 EUR ($62,5 and $125) for the polo shirts I wear to golf. Sometimes I am guilty of buying an indecently priced top or blouse from brands like Anne Fontaine. (+/- 250 EUR)
- Hairdresser: +/- 70 EUR ($87) for a haircut + taking care of my curls. I do the colour myself at home.
- Manicure/ pedicure: I do my manicure and pedicure myself, and once in a while, I have a "medical" pedicure done (meaning they take care of my nails without putting nail polish on them). That costs me 15 EUR ($19)
- Vacation (per person): My "big" vacation costs me about 2000 EUR, and that doesn't include the shopping I do. Next to that, I take short trips to DLP (around 300 EUR without shopping), city trips (around 500 EUR without shopping), and every other year, I go skiing for a week (around 800 EUR).

Now, I am still "alone", no DH, no kids, no more loans to pay, and I don't have real costs, since I still live with my parents. This allows me to spend a little more money on certain things. But, over the years, I have also experienced that the more expensive stuff is usually of a better quality, and lasts longer, so in the end, seen over a longer period, you spend around the same amount of money.

Next to that, I don't smoke (great savings!) and it's not part of our culture to go to restaurants often (another great savings)

- Bra VS: $45, they really are better!
- Panties $10?
- Shoes ("real" shoes) Dansko: $120...regular shoes: $50
- Sneakers/ sport shoes $35
- Jeans $60
- (T)shirts $15
- Hairdresser $50
- Vacation (per person) We. have an RV, which is $400 per month for the loan, but the campgrounds are pretty cheap...$20-$40 per night. We will eat out for dinner.lunch and eat breakfast in. I've never added it all up.

- Bra about $35 on average
- Panties $5 or less... I refuse to buy if not on sale
- Shoes ("real" shoes) $40 on average... more if it is boots. I am not into expensive shoes or lots of them
- Sneakers/ sport shoes same as above
- Jeans this is my splurge in life... $100 a pair. I literally cannot find any that fit (cheap jeans are made for women with no real curves), save this one brand that is hand made. So I go with them and deal with it
- (T)shirts $7-10
- Hairdresser $54 with tip... my other splurge
- Manicure/ pedicure I don't get either. I do my nails myself
- Vacation (per person) I can't tell you, we own DVC so that makes it seem much less. I guess including air, it would be maybe $550/adult for a week

- Bra - about $35/40 on average. sometimes more
- Panties- I have no idea. I would guess $10
- Shoes ("real" shoes) - varies. I have a lot of cheapie payless shoes for $10 but anything that can be cobbled I spend $70-$100 on easily because they wear very well.
- Sneakers/ sport shoes - usually about $40-$50 at the outlet
- Jeans - $50
- (T)shirts -$20
- Hairdresser - $60
- Manicure/ pedicure - don't get them
- Vacation (per person)- depends on where we're going. If out of a 5hr radius about $1000 pp

Lately

Bra: $17--found a good one at Target that suits my needs.

Panties: The Victoria's Secret cotton panties-whatever they cost..I by for
the discount (like 5 for $$$) so that is what I spend.

Shoes: $25-$50...but this is when it is on clearance or on sale.

Running Shoes: Whatever is necessary--typically in the $95-$120 range.
will never wear "cheap" shoes again. My foot structure requires more than what Payless or even Athletic Attic offer.

Jeans: Haven't bought any lately..will spend $25-$50 usually Old Navy or Gap
shirts: $10-$25

Hairdresser: $40 (I think) wash, cut, dry. I do not color my hair

Mani/Pedi: up to $50 per if a spa mani/pedi...otherwise about $50 total. Very rare indulgance.

Vacation: $750 or so pp for a 2 week. Hawaii (2 weeks), savings is up to nearly $4K..so with airfare...we are running $1090 pp...but we had skymiles (had to buy a few miles for one ticket), hotel points (6 nights free), and rental car points (2 week rental fee). So the actual vacation costs would have been a lot more. We are doing "budget" Hawaii. The costs are typical for the vacations we plan. Since hubby travels alot--we got lucky with Hawaii.

- Bra - $48
- Panties - $3 - $10 depends on my mood when I'm shopping
- Shoes ("real" shoes) - $100
- Sneakers/ sport shoes - $70
- Jeans - $30 - $80
- (T)shirts - $20 - 30
- Hairdresser - 40
- Manicure/ pedicure - together 50
- Vacation (per person) - 1500

Ok, I'll give this a shot. Be forwarded that I'm a SAHM and a little on the cheap side when it comes to buying stuff for myself.
- Bra- Have paid up to $45 for a few but usually wait for the clearance sales at VS and get them for around $20.
- Panties- Again I wait for the VS clearance sales a pay around $6
- Shoes ("real" shoes) - My most expensive pair ever was $80 but I normally buy shoes a JC Penney's or Kohl's for $30-$40.
- Sneakers/ sport shoes - Once bought a pair for $80 and they were the worst sneakers ever. Usually I pay around $40.
- Jeans - Around $25-$30 for my shorter can wear with sneakers and a tee-shirt jeans. Around $35-$40 for longer need to wear heels jeans.
- (T)shirts - Under $10 at Kohl's. I never understood paying a bunch of money for a tee-shirt.
- Hairdresser - FREE! My FIL is a hairdresser and I get the family discount.
- Manicure/ pedicure - I've only have fake nails once and that was for my wedding. I hated them and what they did to my real nail! A regular manicure goes for around $15. I've never had a pedicure. My DH got me a gift certificate for a manicure, pedicure, and massage for Christmas and I haven't used it yet.
- Vacation (per person) - A week tent camping is about $200 for all four of us. Disney or a cruise is about $1,000 to $1,500 per person.

- Bra: $30
- Panties: $7 I think.
- Shoes ("real" shoes): I don't usually buy expensive shoes, maybe $50 a pair. But I did recently splurge and bought a really nice pair for $100.
- Sneakers/ sport shoes: I wish I could go cheap. My problematic feet don't allow it. If they are on sale I can get them for $70.
- Jeans: $40 - $50.
- (T)shirts: $10
- Hairdresser: $130. I've tried cheaper places and my heart just can't take it anymore. I only go about once every 5 months so it's not too bad.
- Manicure/ pedicure: I don't get either.
- Vacation (per person): $850 for a cruise, $1000 for Disney.

I'm SOOOOO glad I've never become a girly girl. Yikes, those prices are high. I'm not into perfumes & makeups, "labels" on clothing or mall shopping. I'm comfortable with myself & don't need those items to make me into something I'm not.

I just buy the basics.

Bras: recently had to increase to $20 to find something that fit well
Panties: Just My Size in a 3pack or 6 pack....on sale. $2-$3 each?
Shoes: Definetly NOT a shoe person. I wouldn't pay more than $20, that's for sure. But I do live in Tevas or Birkenstocks alot....so $40-$50.
Sneakers: $20 or less. Kmart or Walmart
Jeans: QVCs Denim & Co line (stretch) are my BEST fit in lots of colors & styles. $30
Tshirts: not a big tshirt wearer. They don't look good. But I do like sleeveless v-neck tanks. $15
Hairdresser: $25 (wash cut dry) every other time; $60 (color wash cut dry) every other time. Color was something I held off doing until greys got too bad.
Manicure: never had one. Not a nail person.
Vacation: when its Disney (8 or 9 days), with airfare & rental car, I've gotten it down to about $700 to $1000 per person. And we do lots of extras, not just the parks (character meals, segway tours, .....) I'm a travel bargain hunter & seek out those discounts!!!! We've become hotel snobs...we only stay at NICE places, but REFUSE to pay $ for it. :rotfl: See list in siggy.

Bra $40-$50 (A great bra makes all the difference)
Panties I susually by at VS 3/$30
Shoes ("real" shoes) $30 (always buy markdowns) I s pend about $60 on boots
Sneakers/ sport shoes $20 (ROss/TJ Maxx stuff...I only wear sneakers when I am going to be doing alot of walking)
Jeans $40 or less on Ebay...My favorite jeans are a type of Levis they no longer make
(T)shirts $7 (I usually buy Gap ts on clearance...I have a few $50 Ralph Lauren ts)
Hairdresser cut my own hair :rotfl2:
Manicure/ pedicure-never been
Vacation (per person)-probably about $750 pr/wk

- Bra - I usually get Bali on the buy-one-get-one-half-off sales at Hechts/Macys, so I think they end up being about $25 each.
- Panties - I usually get the silky ones that are buy 3 for $12 at Hechts/Macys
- Shoes ("real" shoes) - Usually between $30 and $40, but I always look at the clearance racks and recently found some great leather flats for $12.
- Sneakers/ sport shoes - around $50
- Jeans - $20 - 30
- (T)shirts - For a T-shirt, $10, for a blouse for work, $20
- Hairdresser - $40 + tip for wash, cut and style. No coloring, but I think with coloring at my salon it would be between $60 and $75?
- Manicure/ pedicure - Don't get them. I paint my own nails.
- Vacation (per person) - No idea. It all depends on how the annual expenses have been going and what we want to do & can afford. We did San Fran for about $1800 for 4 days (Me and DH - air, hotel & a few tours). DMom and DDad are paying everything except the food/souvies for my upcoming trip to FL.

- Bra $10-$15
- Panties 6 for$8
- Shoes ("real" shoes) $20-30
- Sneakers/ sport shoes $20-30
- Jeans $15-$25
- (T)shirts $5-10
- Hairdresser $16
- Manicure/ pedicure do it myself, splurged once for a wedding, pedicure, maicure and eyebrow wax for about $45

- Vacation (per person) ..... depends on how many days and where we are going, anywhere from $10 average (camping) to $200 when we splurge for a long weekend at Universal

Let me start by saying I am CHEAP! I buy most things through overstock areas online, etc. I do spend more on my kids though.

- Bra Usually $10-$18. I buy Thank Goodness it fits because I'm a 1/2 size through Hanes Outlet online
- Panties Usually $6.50 for a 6 pack of Hanes at WalMart
- Shoes ("real" shoes) Never more than $15-20. Badly cheap here, usually payless or WalMart.
- Sneakers/ sport shoes Typically no more than $20. I thought a long time before buying my crocs on sale for $22.
- Jeans $10-$20. Usually Lands End overstocks on clearance
- (T)shirts Never more than $10 for a t-shirt, or $15 for a dress shirt. Again, overstocks and clearance.
- Hairdresser $15 no more than 2 times a year. I wear my hair straight and cut off levelly. I donate it to locks of love so it grows a long time between. I get a trim about every 8-9 months.
- Manicure/ pedicure Have never done it.
- Vacation (per person) Back when we were a family, this was my splurge. We took Disney cruises, and typically spent about $1000 per person. But now that I'm a single mom, I've invested in a FL resident SAP. I spent $200 a piece for them, and I've probably spent $150 additional per person in resort rooms and food over this year. I also spent $100 a person for water park APs. So my total vacation budget for this year is probably $500 a person, but I'll have about 30 days of vacation (Lots of day trips, one full week, and a couple of long weekends) rolled into that number versus the 10 days vacation time we spent when we lived in MD.

- Bra 40.00 average
- Panties 10.00 average
- Shoes ("real" shoes) 75.00 average
- Sneakers/ sport shoes 100.00
- Jeans 68.00
- (T)shirts 25.00 average
- Hairdresser with tip it is 120.00 cut & color
- Manicure/ pedicure 20/25
- Vacation (per person) depends on the destination

- Bra About $20. They're $40 bras, but I only buy them on clearance or at the outlet center
- Panties My favorites were about $4 each, but they've been discontinuted, and it will be about $7 each for the closes facsimile
- Shoes ("real" shoes) Usually no more than $20 at Payless for basic black dress shoes. I have one pair or $100 heels that I got in Vegas w/DH's poker winnings!
- Sneakers/ sport shoes Used to be about $80 for New Balance, but now I wear Crocs so about $40
- Jeans I try to watch for sales and stay under $30. I never own more than 2 or 3 pairs at a time.
- (T)shirts $15 or less, on clearance
- Hairdresser $30 for a cut, brow wax, and tip. Hair Cuttery has been working out really well for me.
- Manicure/ pedicure Once or twice a year, tops. It's either $40 at the nail school or $80 at the salon for a mani/pedi.
- Vacation (per person) Varies greatly. The least we've ever spent has been about $600 per person for a week's vacation, but we've gone up to at least $3,000 per person. It just depends on where/when.

Sneakers: $20 or less. Kmart or Walmart

Some people invest in good sneakers not to be a girlie girl. :teeth:

Spending $120 a pair..my shoes last longer and in the long run (LOL) cost me less per use. (saw that somewhere about cost per use).

Sneakers that I would purchase at Kmart/Walmart/Payless/Penney's/Athletic Attic/Sports Authority--will have the inner wall collapsed in 2 months or less b/c I have flat feet and I overpronate.

When I actually invested in a good pair of running shoes--it was the first time in over 30 years, that i haven't had a shoe with a collapsed wall when I was finished wearing it.

I pay for stability or motion control shoes, which are not really available at walmart or kmart. ;)

- Bra $48 (IPEX)

- Panties $8

- Shoes ("real" shoes) $40-70, I like Aerosoles but try to buy them at DSW

- Sneakers/ sport shoes Haven't bought anything but cheap-o Ked style disposables for gardening in ten years so no idea

- Jeans $70ish I only own three pair plus one "painting pair" and they last me forever--I've had all three for three or more years at this point.

- (T)shirts $14-29 (I buy the Eileen Fisher $58 t's when the go on sale 50-75% off)

- Hairdresser $110 for a cut and color every five weeks. :guilty:

- Manicure/ pedicure $10/$25 every other month or so--and she comes right to my house!

- Vacation (per person) Ranges from $300 to $5000 depending on where we are going, based on a week. DVC helps on the low end and golf and spa days make the high end where it is.

allright I'll join in

Bra: about 40$ from victoria secret

Panties: 0$ lately as I keep getting free panty offers from VS

shoes: 40-60$ I have finicky feet so whatever feels good. But I still can't justify spending the $ on Danskos

sneakers: 20$ outlet malls rock!

jeans: 20$ I'm not into designer jeans, just functional is ok with me

tshirts: around 10-20$

hair: 50-60$ at an Aveda salon. I truly believe you get what you pay for in this area

manicure/pedicure: 20/50-60 in same spa as hairdresser

vacation: hard to admit but this one is going to set me back over 2000. Guess its ramen noodles for a while :-)

Bra - I'm a not-so-common size (32C) so I have to shop at higher end places like Nordstroms to get my bras. They average about $40-$55.

Panties - I get mine at VS - 5 for $25 and they last a really long time.

Shoes ("real" shoes) - it varies. I've gotten them at Payless, I've gotten them at Macy's. Just depends on the sale and how cute they are! One of the more common places I buy shoes from is Mervyns.

Sneakers/ sport shoes - the one shoe I won't buy cheap. Usually between $40-$60.

Jeans - $20-$40.

(T)shirts - $8-20.

Hairdresser $90-$125

Manicure/ pedicure - I was paying $50 for both. I stopped getting fake nails because they cost too much. I get a pedicure once a month, and it cost $15.

Vacation (per person) - we usually go as a family. A big vacation averages $1700-$4000. Smaller trips, like camping for a weekend will average around $300 for food and gas.
