How much do you spend at WDW

Assuming hotel is free, how much do you usually spend per person per week at WDW. This should include food, transportation, spending, park passes...

You would probably get a better response to this sort of a poll if you set some guidelines.

For example, those who fly vs. drive will spend hundreds more per person just on transportation.

Many DVC owners purchase Annual Passes as their park admission. If I can get 3 trips out of an AP, then my incremental cost per trip is much lower than someone who purchases a discounted Park Hopper for their stay. Believe it or not, there are even DVC owners who can spend a week at their resort and not even go into the parks.

Dining: Some people eat many meals in their rooms since all DVC accommodations have either a full kitchen or kitchenette. Others will still splurge for WDW table service establishments during their stay.

And your comment regarding the hotel being "free" isn't entirely accurate due to the annual fees that must be paid on all DVC points.

If you are just trying to get an idea of how people spend their money, then I guess you'll get what you are looking for. The responses will vary across the spectrum.

But if you are considering a DVC purchase, you are probably better off looking at the type of vacation that YOU want to take (drive vs. fly, dine in vs. dine out, most economical park tickets) and determine YOUR cost.

We are about $70 per person per day ($490 per person per week), excluding airfare because we use free tickets, excluding DVC costs and excluding park passes because we are AP holders (AP tickets cost us about $20 per person per day and range from $10 - $30 depending on the year).

For our family of four (one doesn't need a ticket yet) we spend about $5 pp/day on park admission (FL resident Seasonal Passes used 20 or more days/yr), and about $50-60 in gas/tolls (we drive up), and $0-150/trip (averages 4 days) on souvenirs, food and spending $$$. ($0 if we bring groceries and cook in the room, b/c that comes out of my grocery budget). If we take a trip at last minute and don't stay at DVC b/c of lack of availability, we spend about $30 / nt on hotel (priceline), and $100-150 on food. Disney is a quick long/short w/e get away for our family. My mom said "good for you, DVC's cheaper then buying a boat!" when we bought. THat is less then $250 pp.

When it's just my mom and I, we definitely spend less than the pre-DVC days. We have breakfast in the room (bagels, waffles, juice), that saves about $20 per day. We don't eat as big meals or if we do, we bring the leftovers back to the room for later or the next day. Sometimes we pickup something and bring it back to the room, like pizza (we love Uno's). I voted <$250 per person, I didn't count airfare or passes. We usually spend about $25 at the grocery store when we arrive. Bage.s, waffles, margerine, syrup, juice, bottle water, cookies, ice cream, pop (soda).

I agree with the comment about the room being "free". Friends & family think it's "free" because you don't pay when you are there but it's far from "free".

My budget for our next trip is already planned.... including the travel costs and pro-rating ticket costs (we'll be buying hoppers this year that will cover 2 trips this year), we'll spend about $2700 for a week of fun, $691/person, or $98/person/day.

IF you want to add maintenance costs (210points x $4), we're looking at $3600/wk, 900/person, $128/person/day.

I excluded airfare and lodging (even maintenence costs, and rounded up wherever I could, bcs you will always find a way to spend more. After that I picked the next category up.

We fly, rent a car, eat every meal out, except for a few breakfasts, are buying APs the next trip, going on "Backstage Magic Tour" & ALWAYS find lots of things that we "need" to bring home with us.

But honestly, I have to say that if we include the park passes and food for us then it has to be close to $700 per person. If you add in airfare, then it goes up to $900.00. Then if you add souveniers....I think I voted too low.

I think I'll sit down now and work out the figures for this up coming trip!
