How much do you rent your points for?

I am getting ready to buy, and I have a couple questions that fit in with this thread...
I am wondering whether owners have trouble selling un-used points. It sounds as though most DVCers don't have un-used points. But if you did, are there any resorts that are a weaker investment in those terms? I may have extra points to sell for the first couple years (until the family needs the two-bedroom)
Also, are transfers easy? I read that Disney prohibits payment for point transfers, but it seems to happen on the rent/transfer board if I am reading them right.
It would make my final decision easier to know that I could count on selling unused points if necessary.

Not sure whether you mean rent, which is whatcha do with leftover points from one year, or sell which is whatcha do if you don't want to own DVC any more (not that that happens too awfully much around here) But I'm thinking you're asking about renting? You can check out the rent/trade board to get an idea. If you are talking about selling you can check out the Timeshare store for an idea about that.

I would never sell my points, but if I ever rented them out, it would be for at least $14 a point, or it wouldn't be worth it to me.

I don't rent my points out and I agree with Diane that if I did it would be for no less than $14.00.

Interesting to see such a slight difference between the top three.

on the rental/trade board the norm is generally $10.

but there are other ways to rent DVC points.

or if you have a very popular reservation - BWV standard view for thankgiving, or food/wine festavial.

VWL for thankgiving or early Dec

BCV for food/wine festavial or sometimes summer (that pool)

these are very, very popular times and a reservation at these times is worth more money - even on the dis board.

but you can only do one reservation at a time here.

if you only want to rent your points then set the price at what you want.

if they don't rent in a couple of weeks you might consider lowering your price.

however - NEVER take the first or second person who want to rent your points for less than you want too. I generally ignore these requests. and go to one who is offering me my price.

there are some people on the Dis who will try anything to get you to lower your price.....there have been reports.... then they turn around and rerent your points for a higher price...

To all - I editted to read "rent."

I see a lot of stuff on the boards but want to get a real number for what the DIS rentees feel the value is.

I personally think $10 is way too low. Where else can people get BWV or OKW, etc. for $100 or so a night?
