how much do you rely on the extended forcasts?

We are arriving on July 2nd and the early look at Accuweather looks on the cooler side with more rain then usual. I know it will storm every afternoon but the all day rain has me a little nervous

I have a good friend that is a meteorologist for the NWS. He said anything beyond the 3rd or 4th day is a guess. And sometimes beyond the 2nd depending on conditions.

I tell him it seems like the next 8 hours is a guess on most forecasts. :rotfl2:

I wouldn't put much into the specifics. It seems like the trends are mostly accurate. If it shows a cooling trend, there will probably be one at some point around the projection. I wouldn't bet on the exact day or temperature shift until it gets a lot closer.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

It will be raining somewhere in Central Florida at nearly every part of the day. It won't be in the same location all day. Expect rain sometime in Orlando between 1pm -5pm every day until late August.

As for forcasts, I don't trust tomorrows. I barely trust the one for this afternoon. This Florida girl is so jaded by weather predictions I don't bother much anymore.

Weather forecasts for FL are the same as any other area. Some are right on and some not even close. Just relax and enjoy.

I have seen it rain in EPCOT and be completely dry at the campground

Plan Man,

Like the others say, I take weather forecasts with a grain of salt. In the summer I almost don't care because, hey, it's only water. I just throw in a couple ziploc sandwich bags for the wallet and the cellphone.

It is fun, though, as the trip approaches (and even while you're at the Fort) to start watching those long-term forecasts become short-term forecasts become current forecasts. I compare both The Weather Channel info versus Accuweather and it's my completely unscientific position that Accuweather is the more accurate of the two.

For you in early July as you said, it's pretty simple. Daily thunder boomers most likely in the pm and hot/muggy otherwise.

But here's hoping your trip is a little drier than you expect. :beach:

We have lived in Florida for over 20 years. the daily weather is only correct 30% of the time. Long range IMO less.
