How much do you put in your vacation fund per week?

I just booked a really expensive honeymoon that's going to require a LOT of saving and scrimping over the next six months, so I was curious. For those of you who have a vacation fund, do you save per week? How much? Per month?

I save in a general account(ING)- I allow about $100/week for vacation(which also includes day trips-boardwalk/other amusement parks,etc)

we put in $135 a month towards our next Disney vacation which will hopefully be in 2012. :goodvibes we will probably have to add to it, but it'll cut a big chunk out.

It depends upon what we're saving for.

We take the amount we need and divide it by how many weeks we have until the trip... and that gives us how much we need to save.

On average it's about $100 a week, or $400 a month.

Well, if it's a Disney year, we use our income tax refund. Otherwise we start planning vacations this month:cool1: so I don't have a clue what we're going to do yet for the budget.

I try to save a minimum of $50 a week no mater what! Depending on extra things that come up (DD clss ring cut in to this month) Usually though I put $400 a month. This is $ I save from earnings my DH pays all of our bills with his $. He is the bread winner I just work part time from home. So my extra $ usually pays for our trips...which is why for the mot part DH lets me decide where we go!:cool1: Last Year we went to Disney in April, Las Vegas in June and Myrtle Beach,SC in JUly busy busy!

We don't really save for vacations, but we don't take expensive ones usually either. That being said, we decided to do a Disney Med cruise this summer. I started putting money aside for our excursions, hotels (we're also going to take an extra week and sightsee around Europe). I put all of our "spare" money in it. I give myself an allowance each week (pay cash for everything except groceries and gas) - any extra goes in there. Any cash we got for Christmas - most of it went in there. Selling on Craigslist, Ebay, etc - it all goes in there. We're going rewards points for airfare and some of the gift cards, so all in all, the vacation won't be excessive (I hope!)

We put $105.00 per week into into our vacation fund.

This is what I do as well. I research our airfare, lodging costs, rental car etc. and calculate the amount I need to save every week. I also like to have a garage sale before the trip and use this money for souvenirs and any extras. This past December we made $1200 with two garage sales:banana:

I have to set aside a minimum of $300 a month for the next 18 months...we have our DD's out of state college graduation May of 2012 (and we would like to take a more than likely last family vaca for a while) 2 weeks after that. I am hoping we can do both in that budget, but for a family of 4 it will be tight , especially since we have to fly for the graduation, have to get home 48 hours later for DS high school graduation!:thumbsup2

It also varies for us. Depends on the vacation. Right now I have about $100 a month going into an ING account. I like the ING account because the money isn't instantly available so I have to think twice before transferring the money. I also have 2 Christmas Clubs set up for $150 a month. I would do what another poster suggested and divide the total amount you will need for your honeymoon by the weeks you have left to pay on it. That way you are sure to have enough. Good luck!

Right now I'm putting $125 a month into mine, but I'm also using the fact that there are two months this year I'll get three checks instead of two, and I get two bonuses per year, so it's less than it would be if that was how we were funding the whole vacation. My bonuses will pay for almost half our trip.

I try to put away $100 each pay period, so $200 a month.

We just put aside $20 a week. We use this as our vacation fun money--souvies, food, activities, etc.

I put all of our "found money" in to a vacation account. Ebay sales, rebates/refends, etc. Pretty much anything that we are not earning from our jobs. I also have a huge change jar, silver only. All of these savings have really added up. Unfortunately, DH recently lost his job, so any extra cash will likely go to living expenses...but I know we will get back on track. Good luck!

Our airfare comes from our tax return. So no need to save for that. Our trip we usally book for September or October and it is about 200.00 a month. I just put the Decembers 200.00 down. MY girls get Disney GC for b-days and holidays and that is what they have for spending money.

We have an ING account marked "Disney!" We put about $100/mo into it. We also use bonus money or tax refund money in addition to that amount.

This year we have budgeted $500 a month. Hopefully we won't need that much, but I like to have a cushion. Most of our trips are already pretty well covered: DVC, AP, train tickets, etc., but DH wants to to go Mexico in November so that is about $3,500 at least., plus we have a trip planned for January 2012 so there will be some cost there as well even though we'll use our DVC and already have the Michael Jackson Cirque tickets.

We transfer 100$ a month automatically, but we also use one of those Way-to-Save accounts from Wachovia (now Wells-Fargo) that transfers a dollar from checking every time we use our visa debit card on a purchase. The intrest is 5% on the account, so we don't touch it aside from the bigger vacations we take.. about once a year.
