Ok... now that we haved a handle on how many pictures we take at Disney, my next question is, on average, about what percentage of pictures do you acutally print and put into an album, vs just keep as digital files (or as negatives).

Just trying to see if I am within the "norm".

Sometimes I just set the camera to continuous shooting and hold the shutter down. Needless to say you don't need 10 identical pictures in your album. Not to mention the so-so fireworks pics that need to be weeded out.

I print virtually nothing. Looking at the photo on the PC screen gives you a larger, more vibrant image.

If we want portability, that's what we got a PSP for. :)

Let's see. In the old days, when I used film, I would print them all. But in the new digital era, only about 30-40%. On our last trip I took 2500 pictures. We bought Disney photo albums: 2 300-picture albums for our family pictures and 3 100-picture albums for the kids. Each kid will have 50 character pictures and their corresponding 50 autographs. As far as photo slideshows, I plan to use about 1200-1400.

I will print a few, the rest I just burn to a disc, store on shutterfly AND webshots, and keep on my computer...I've made a few shutterfly photo books too and those are a nice way to display the pictures.

I've got so many photo albums sitting in closets that I just don't want anymore. It's easier to pop in the disc and look at them that way.

Since I went digital, I never print my pics any more.

In fact, even before I went digital, I was scanning all my film pics and putting the prints and negatives away, and never looking at them.

Albums? Not for us. Online slideshows, DVDs, screensavers, sure, but not albums.

Our only prints are for hanging on walls and giving to luddites.

1st 2 trip I printed all the pictures. 1st trip in '01 I didn't take a lot only about 4 rolls. I ended up taking a lot more video on that trip.

2nd trip in '05 I took I think 3 rolls with the film slr, plus about 500 digital pics from my digital P&S in 7 days. I printed out all the good ones and they are in a Disney only album (total pics in there are about 450 give or take).

Last trip I took just under 1500 pics. Deleted a little more than 100 and ended up taking home about 1350. Of those I had about 900 or so good ones (or non duplicate ones). Thus far I've only printed out about 120. I had planned on printing out more, but just haven't gotten a chance to do it. I have 2 300 page Disney photo albums waiting for pictures. Right now I have just the 90 "best of the best" printed and in an album along with 10 collages of characters that add up to about 20-30 pictures. I've also enlarged 6 to 8x12 that are hanging on our walls along with 9 or 10 others that were enlarged to 5x7, also hanging on the walls around the house.

Most of what we print is 8 x 10 or larger, usually to hang on the wall. I print 12 x 12 and 8 x 10 scrapbook pages also.

Overall, I doubt we print even 1% of our images.

i only print pictures i really like and make them wall sized ( well not at 8 ft by 10 ft but i mean big enough to view on a wall. :) ) so that is probably maybe 6 out of 1000... have not been to disney yet with dslr but plan on making slide show as i am evenutally going to do from this yrs nondisney vacation with my film slr i naturally printed them all but most ended up in a box so i figure at least on a cd i'll look at them more

I'm the same way. Eventually I hope to get nearly everything possible into digital formats and stored on discs. I'm of those that hates to throw away stuff like bank statements, CC statements, etc, so I scan all those in (or download them in PDF if possible from a web site.) I want all my pictures, all my old videos, all of music, etc, in digital format. Other stuff is too fragile, fades, is hard to find when you're looking for it, etc.

One of these days I'd love to pick up a nice negative scanner, but I doubt it'll happen any time soon. Sigh... maybe I can split something with my relatives, my dad and uncle both have enormous collections of slides that they want to get digital.

:rotfl2: Those darn luddites! Always causing trouble for the rest of us!

Lots of good ideas, but man, what an organizational nightmare.

Ditto. Over the last year I have taken all of my old records and scanned them to PDFs using the copy machines at work, and now I'm in the process of shredding all of the stuff that's older than 3 years. I've cleared out a whole bookshelf!

My grandfather had a huge collection of slides that I wanted to get digital, so I borrowed the slides and a projector and snapped them all with my digital camera. Not as good as scanning them, but it didn't cost me anything but time. The quality is about equal to a 150-dpi scan of a photographic print.

I used to print them all! But now maybe 40-60% -- but they don't all get scrapbooked or put into albums!!! I have been getting them better organized into segmented containers and photo boxes, tho.
