My cat gets groomed every 6 weeks. He is a himalayan, and I used to try to keep all that fur up myself. It was a nightmare. I pay $17 for his bath and comb out. Worth every penny it costs. Just wondered what other folks were paying to get their pets groomed.

I have a 20lb. Shih Tzu and he gets groomed every 6 weeks.
Cost: $40.00 (includes bath, nails and cut)
Tip: $10.00
How he looks after: Priceless!

Yellow Lab, doesnt require much "grooming"

$25.00 bath, ears, teeth, a nail clip.... 2x per year, once in the spring and once in the fall

Brandy

Both dogs run about $30 each...sometimes we pay extra to have their teeth brushed...that runs $7 each, and nail clips is like $5 or something. Who knows. These darn dogs cost me so much money....but I love em to pieces :teeth:

What percentage is the customary tip for grooming? Similiar to a hair dresser? :)

Thanks. We have a new 8 week old mini eskimo pup, so this is new to me. :)

My Miniature Schnauzer costs $32 to be groomed. By the way, the picture posted is the "before" picture. I'll have to try and add an "after". It's always amazing how different she looks! ::yes::

I am new to grooming as well. But I can say that I have gone to a few different groomers for my miniature poodle.

Some groomers have charged 48-49, but I just found a new place that charged $38 for him.

I am also unsure of the tip, since I just learned that you need to tip though!

It cost $17 for a shampoo, ears cleaned and nails cut for my Beagle. I gave her a $5 tip.

I think it cost around $40-$45 for our weimaraner to get bathed, nails done, teeth brushed, nails painted, ears cleaned, glands "massaged", & doggie perfume.

Looks like what I pay is on the high side compared to others. But, it's worth every dollar.

We have a groomer who comes to the house. Takes our American Eskimo out to his van, gives him a bath and grooms him. We pay $50.

We don't have to take him anywhere -- hard to do when he always gets car sick anyway. I love the fact that we don't have to dedicate 1/2 of a day to have him groomed. When we first got him and took him to a groomer, it seemed like it took hours for them to do the job. Well worth it for us.

I never thought about tipping. Is this done like a hair salon or wait staff tip? 15-20%??

I have a dippy St. Bernard name Daisy who runs about 150 lbs. now. We have her done once a year in the spring. Last year for the works it was 50 bucks and worth every penny and more. She looked gorgeous! The ride stresses her out so much that I think we will just have to do outside baths by me this year though! Then I need a major shower, lol!

I am a dog groomer who works out of my own kennel. One complaint I have is that many folks feel if you are working from home, they don't need to tip. A year ago I raised my rates by 10% because of this. Don't forget to tip, even if it IS a business run from a home. There are still overhead costs, and because I am not in a mall, I feel I should not charge as much.

My cat does a good job on his own, so he's free!;)

My golden retriever costs about $40. Pretty steep, so she only goes when she gets to be a real mess.;)

I pay $28.50 for my Peekapoo and then tip 15%.

i have a 1/2 shiz-tsu 1/2 bison frise and i get her groomed every 6 wks. it cost me around $25.00 each time.

Our yellow lab goes twice a year (you're right, mudnuri, they're pretty low-maintenance dogs!). It runs $30 + tip (I usually do 20%).

Our dog who normally hates that kind of stuff, loves this groomer. He gets a "massage", kind of like a doggie spa. He also gets loved to death when he gets home since he smells so good (citrus) and is ssoooo soft. It's not a bad life.

....zilch!!! I do my dogs' ears, nails(grind),and teeth every 3 days and a bath when needed.

Looking at this thread, I think I pay too much!

$70 for a shampoo and trim for 65lb Flat Coated Retriever. The groomer comes to my location in a mobile pet grooming truck!

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

Diane--

I am curious, what is the suggested tip? I never knew to tip until a discrete sign was placed on our new groomers.

Is it percentage based?

How do the groomers get paid? Is it per hour/per dog, or does one groomer do one part of dog and another groomer does another? Or does the groomer do start to finish?

Sorry so many questions.. I'm curious how this works.

How long should a miniture poodle take? We had our little man do a #5 all over for a nice summer do... and it took several hours.

I"m new to dog owning, and grooming!

$25 to clip, bath, and brush my sheltie...unless they get the wrong dog and well, that's another thread!
