How much do you pay for texting?

Ditto $30 on for unlimited texting for all family members. We currently have 3 phones but I've been told I can get texting for up to 5 phones for this cost.

Yes, we have AT&T with 5 phones and unlimiting texting is $30. For a while, ds14 & I each had the $5 per phone for up to 200 texts (incoming & outgoing) but we both exceeding a couple times and once we added ds11 onto the plan, it was easier to get the unlimited plan. Now I don't have to stress out about the numbers.

We're another on the AT&T unlimited group texting plan. My oldest son uses about 10 minutes of airtime a month and somewhere between 6000 and 10000 texts I think. Honestly I could drop voice minutes for him before texting.

We have Virgin Mobile. I pay $40/month for 1200 minutes and unlimited text and data. DS pays $25/month for 300 minutes and unlimited text and data. You can get great deals on the phones on ebay, once you know what you want. I got the Rumor2 for $40. We love our plans, no problems with reception or anything else. Best part is that it is month to month, so when the next thing comes along, we can switch it we want.

We have US Cellular and pay $5 each a month for texting. We have a 250 limit though. I'm not a huge fan of texting to begin with and we rarely get close to our limit. If we do, heaven forbid, we have to use the phone to CALL and actually TALK to the people (YIKES!)

We are really fortunate being on a family plan with DH's mom though. We pay $30 a month for both of our cell phones which is the most amazing deal ever. I can't imagine paying $70 a month a piece or more... just crazy.

I probably averaged 2 texts per year when I was with Verizon and had a different phone. I'm from the earlier generation where people didn't grow up texting.

I've learned to text - voice to text is a great tool - and find it an excellent way of getting a message out without consuming a load of time.

Also, both my daughters work in the same office and personal phone calls are a major annoyance and distraction for the setting. I can send a text and get an answer when they have a minute to respond (I'm in another office.) In my own work setting too many calls interrupt the work flow - I remember one employee who was supervised by me. She had a choo choo train ring and never used the vibrate feature. You could be giving her important instructions and she would stop to take a call - complete with the train whistle. She doesn't work with me anymore! If her phone had gotten a discreet text and she glanced at it, much less of a distraction.

Right now we have AT&T. We pay $99 for 750 shared minutes a month with 3 phones - $20 of that is for texting on one phone only. No access to the internet or emails. My son is graduating this month and I wanted to get him a cell phone, but I hate our plan. It is so boring. What is the point in giving a teenager a cell phone if he cannot text with it? The $20 we pay per month is from my daughter (23) who texts. I and my other son do not text. He would, but my husband won't pay for it. Before we get another cell phone on this terrible plan, please help me find something better!!!:surfweb: My sister has a TracFone and texts often - she pays like 3 minutes for each text. Not sure how that works.:confused3

I think the unlimited texting on our Verizon family plan costs $9.99 per line.

Yiii! These are pretty much the rates I was paying with Verizon for 20 years!

I was able to get more and pay less by choosing Virgin Mobile. My only regret is that I didn't jump ship sooner.

The teen work and pay their own data plans because I don't consider them "necessary," although they do.

I would love to switch to Virgin Mobile but we have a lake house and have found that US Cellular is the only carrier that really works well up there.

I pay $120 a month for 4 phones each with unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited data. I am on CellularOne
