How much do you owe CCs?

Two people who will never have debt because they keep conning people into paying for their advice! :lmao:

I don't think it's conning to have people want to pay you for common sense. Look at the popularity of Dr. Phil, Supernanny, diet plans, etc. If people would just figure out "don't eat too many calories," "you can't afford it", "don't buy it if you can't pay for it", "how's that working for you", and "the naughty spot" etc. on their own they would save THEMSELVES a lot of money. No one is conning by being willing to give this kind of advice. Most of us forget common sense at some point and and being willing to let someone remind us is not a bad thing - even if we have to pay for the priviledge.

I'll admit it...we have cc debt...about $12,000 of it. We are nowhere near the poorhouse, are trying to be responsible about it (it was $15,000 just a year ago). Trying to get it paid off within the next year.

We are not taking a vacay this year, and are putting more money toward the debt each month. One of our cars will be paid off in the next couple of months, and we are gonna use that money to pay off the cc.

Sometimes life happens, or you just make bad decisions. For us it was both. We were told we couldn't have more kids after our first, so we bought a new house and a new car (at the time no cc debt). Then our wonderful 'accident' happened, DH totalled a car, and our wonderful little 'accident' has lots of health issues. So...that is our 'debt' story.

Hopefully, I can join the ranks of the debt free (well, except a mortgage) within the next year or so.

:sad2:

you will have 90% of people here that will never claim they have debt...most people have some kind of debt ,it is all in how you handle it.

Many people on this thread have said they don't have credit card debt. I haven't seen anyone yet that claimed to have never had any kind of debt. :confused3

Umm, HELLO!?!?!? Yes, you can. You are getting a huge sum of money. Use it for necessities like getting your teeth taken care of then have fun with it. Its not rocket science.

You posted on the BB about needing money for the dentist, a new car, disney, etc. The dentist trumps the car and Disney.

Um Hello?!?! Why so rude in your posting?
My teeth are being taken care of (maybe I'm not paying $2000 right up front, but heck if I could do it for $100 a month w/o interest you better believe I am taking that way out) and we're paying down our credit card, we're putting some of the money away and looking to buy our car in late Spring, and we will continue to put money away til that point.
I am sorry, I just hate when people are rude, it bugs me.
Carry on with the Dave Ramsey jokes..... :lmao:

You said you COULDN'T afford, which clearly isn't the case.

well this way it works out better, everyone wins.
We have money in savings, paying down the debt, will get the car in the Spring(maybe not as soon as we hoped) and still go to disney.

I don't find it hard to believe that so many on the DIS do not have credit card debt.

When we did have cc debt, we didn't tend to take vacations. Now that we don't have cc debt, we take vacations. So maybe there are many like that here.

I'm sure if you go to different types of message boards aimed at other types of groups, you might get a different answer to the cc question.

I do not think the DIS has a wide spectrum of people when it comes to finances. Surely we have different incomes, and different debt amounts, but we don't have the WIDE WIDE spectrum like a nation. The people here must be comfortable enough to spend it or charge it.
