How much do you gain in WDW?

We just got back last month and as most have said we also lost weight. I lost 5 pounds and DW lost 4. But we were averaging walking a little over 8 miles a day. The worst or most miles walked was our first day at Epcot when we logged 13.289 miles.

Did you actually monitor how much you walked? That would be interesting to have a total at the end of the day. I have never done that.

BTW, I gained 4 pounds last year, but I had been dieting up until then (last year I lost a total of 70 pounds over 12 months) and we didn't go to the parks much. We hung out and relaxed at the resort and went to Vero Beach for part of the week.

The weight was off by the end of the next week because I went right back on my food plan when I got home.

I never seem to gain weight because I am usually not that hungry when at WDW! However, I do seem to drink a lot of smoothies and frozen drinks while on vacation and that fills me up.

In July we are utilizing the dining plan and I am expecting to gain some weight then :teeth: but I don't care I'm at WDW :wizard: .

Last time I went, I was on weight watchers (but at goal and maitaining), so I carefully weighed myself. I was sure the intense walking would even out the treats---but I gained 4 pounds anyway!

At home, I work out every day (cardio and lift weights) and diet. At WDW, I eat what I want. I always lose weight. We are very active when we are there (no just lounging by the pool or sleeping in!) and while I would say I eat what I want, I definitely am not on some huge binge, eating huge quantities of food or whatever! I don't stuff myself all day long full of fried foods or ice cream, etc. but I do eat dessert, and never eat salads! LOL

I'm a big fitness and health food nut, but I eat like it's going out of style at WDW! I've maybe gained a total of one pound while at the parks. The walking and standing all day really does help out. I usually exercise for about one to two hours per day as opposed to being moderately active for about eight to nine hours a day. I think it evens out somewhere. Also, food eaten on vacation never counts, right? ;)

Last year I lost 1 lb and the year before I stayed the same. I didn't exercise much before going. This year, I have a feeling I will gain. I've lost 53 lbs since August and exercise alot more and am currently on a 1500 cal/diet. I'm going to enjoy myself to some degree though. I'll make sure to do exercise on top of the walking while I am there though. Regardless, as soon as I get home it's right back on the diet!

i am a weight watcher member -- lost 70 lbs. w/ 10 more to go! we were in DW the week of 1/22. i didn't worry about what i ate. i had dessert w/ every dinner and ordered whatever i wanted. same goes true for the counter service meals we had. i loved every minute of it!! when i came back i was up 2.5 lbs. but i lost 2 of that the first week. just .5 more to go. it was SOOOOO worth it!!!!! :goodvibes

Because of all the walking we do, I've never gained any additional weight at Disney. We generally have huge Disney dinners and the rest of our meals are pretty standard.

I generally stay the same (or lose very little- like a lb or two) which I'm always surprised by that- considering at home if I ate like that I'd gain a TON. (I have to lowcarb to keep weight in check or to lose weight when necessary... I definitely do NOT eat lowcarb at WDW and especially didn't the last two trips with the dining plan trying to make the most of that! :rotfl2: )

I guess it's all the walking.. :confused3
