How much do points charts change?

Lets hope I can explain this properly

I plan 3 years worth of trips at a time, so I am able to bank and borrow as needed to get what we want. I am currently thinking of our 2015 trip. We aren't sure when or where yet, but am figuring out our options. We do know that in 2016 we want a 2bd lake view at BLT first week of June for graduation. Right now that is 356 points. If I make my 2015 reservation and use all of my available points, then the new points chart comes out and the BLT room has changed, will I be able to depend on OT use points to make up the difference? Historically do the pts change by large amounts (over 24) or small amounts (less than 24) for certain room types?

When I bought DVC in 2009, I was told the points charts had only changed once in it's entire history. It then changed every year since then.

They have adjusted points three times over the life of DVC. The only thing that changes yearly is that some of the seasons move around for Easter, Thanksgiving, etc. So if you are planning Spring trips, you kind of have to watch for Easter when planning out.

By the way, the adjustment they made for the "trip I bought for" went down one point in 2010, and up two from there in 2011. Other people have seen larger adjustments, but since we used weekends (most of the adjustments have been making weekends less expensive and moving those points into the weekdays), we didn't see much impact.

(We moved seasons when our kids got into middle school and that has had the bigger impact on points).

I don't think they have changed every year since 2009. I remember a change to the BWV to add the Standard View category, a DVC-wide re-adjustment a few years ago and a change to BLT (adjusting the view categories) and SSR (adjusting the point cost for Treehouse villas) a couple of years ago.

They revised the point charts in 2010 & 2011 for all resorts. In general, weekdays went up and weekends went down. They also did some reallocations on room sizes. My typical trips went up in total because I generally go Sat or Sun to Friday.
