Sorry, I'm sure this was anwsered somewhere but I did search first and found nothing...:confused3 Oh, and there are 2 adults and one kiddo in the room.

I have read on here to tip one dollar a day per person plus one dollar, but we had 5 ppl and I tipped $5 a day the first 5 days then bumped it up to $6 a day the last 4 days once I got some small bills and had 1's on me to leave the extra dollar. I forgot to tip on the last day/day we were leaving.

And you can fully expect to have ppl respond and tell you not to even bother tipping them because they are not a tipped position.

It's a matter of preference whether or not you want to tip.

My husband thought it was dumb to tip someone who makes 8 or 9 dollars an hour but we had a 2 room suite with 4 beds to make up every day and 2 bathrooms to clean. She deserved a tip from us.

It seems from your signature that you have stayed on Disney property many times. Have you never tipped before now?

That is totally subjective.:)

Mousekeeping is not a tipped position,so "technically" no tip is "required".

However I always leave a tip on the bed.

$3.00-$5.00 would be my recommendation.:)

We have never stayed on site, but, we will be next November. There is just the two of us and we are keep our room pretty organized but we usually leave $5 a day.

I don't mean to sound heartless but we may leave a couple of dollars during the coarse of our stay, certainly not daily. We pay enough to stay at the resort and to leave $5 a day (for our family of 5) to make two beds and replace towels doesn't make sense to me. The way I look at it, besides me being cheap, is that they have a job just like you and I and get paid to do it. I don't get a tip everytime I do my job.

I have always left money for Mousekeeping but I use to leave it at the end of my stay until someone told me it may not be the same Mousekeeper so I should leave money every day. I will leave $3-$5 a day depending on how well of a job they do.

This seems like a good rule. I also give more or less depending on the level of resort / price of the room. When five of us stayed in a Fort Wilderness Cabin, we left $40 on the day we checked out. There was a LOT to clean. The last time we stayed at a very nice room at AKL, I left $10/day and a little more on the last day. The lady doing our room seemed honestly touched. I got the feeling that not a lot of people tip.

That was very nice of you! I hope your husband knows that $8-9 isn't all that much to live on, especially not in central Florida! I'd be surprised if it covered much more than gas going to and from work.

A long, long time ago in another lifetime I was a poor single mom who cleaned hotel rooms. Tips were so welcome and cheering and more than once paid for that night's dinner. Thank you to everyone who thinks to do this. If you don't tip every day, please consider tipping on the day you leave. It's one thing to tidy up and make the bed. It's quite another to scrub an entire room clean and sanitize it for the next guest!

We tip daily, because of the fact that your mousekeeper may change, and if you just leave it on the last day, it may well be the persons day off who cleaned your room all week, and the mousekeeper who got the tip may never have cleaned your room before that day.

We tip $1.00 per person, but if there's only 2 of us, I'll leave $3.00 I know it's not a tipped position, but I have always tipped when I go to a hotel. I don't think they get much more then minimum wage.

but I have always tipped when I go to a hotel. I don't think they get much more then minimum wage.

Neither do some bank tellers, cashiers, or even radio DJs. Lots of jobs pay $8-9/hour, but for some reason only certain ones get tipped. :confused3

We usually tip $5 per day for two adults and two kids. I usually bring envelopes from home and the kids take turns writing "mousekeeping" on them and putting the money inside. They've even fought over whose turn it is. I think it's a good thing for the kids to do and it reminds them to not make such a mess since it isn't magically being cleaned lol. When we ran into one of our mousekeepers, she seemed so touched that we were doing this each day and that the kids were involved. I think it made her day and it taught our kids to think of others even when they are on vacation. I also think the mousekeepers work that much harder when you tip and i certainly want the room as clean as possible!

Bank tellers aren't cleaning your toilet. Tip the nice people!

Agreed. My feeling is if I can afford to go to disney. Then I can afford to tip people that are not as fortunate as me. I would hate to have to live on 9.00 dollars a hour. I can't even imagine how they get by.

We'll be down for eight days in february and like anytime we've gone we've had:) housekeeping come in once during the week while we're there and on the day we check out. I tip well each time but since im a server who relies on tips to support my family i have a tendancy to overtip. But we dont need someone coming in every day. We hang and reuse our towels at home, make our beds and pick up after ourselves so I see no reason to be any different in disney.

Agreed....and I do tip....but in this vein, many people who make well below $10/hr such as nurses aides, do more than clean a toilet, they clean up you! And they're not allowed to accept tips. Just sayin'.
Those of us who can afford Disney vacations should be very thankful, and remember those less fortunate.

:thumbsup2

9$ per hour is not a livable wage! I usually leave 5$ per day, we are a family of 4.

I agree with everyone else. $3-$5 per day.

We're a family of 3 and I usually leave $3.

We usually leave $5 a day for the 4 of us when not staying in DVC. The cleaning people are some of the lowest paid/ hardest working people in all of Disney. At $9 an hour they are basically a few grand over the poverty level which I think is around $14k a year. Try living on that yourself and see how it goes, not too well I would surmise. And on every trip we have been on they have always left us daily the most wonderful towel animals and even making up scenes of them with my kids stuffed animals. These people deserve it in my opinion. :)

I just got back from POFQ. I left $3 each day, there were 2 in the room, and $6 on the last day. Our mousekeepers were so sweet. They work hard!

That's true, they aren't. So, do I tip the guy who picks up my garbage? The janitor?

Lots of people may have parts of their job that isn't pleasant. I'm just making a point that some people apparently deserve a tip and others don't.

Exactly. There is no rhyme or reason for who you tip or why. It's a completely random socially driven phenomenon.
