I know tipping is a hot-button issue and I'm not even going near the Mousekeeping tipping issue, but how much do I tip Bell Services? We are doing a split stay. How much do I tip at each resort? How much do I tip while they hold our luggage on the day we check-out? Do I need to tip the ME driver? We have always rented a car and never used used ME and don't want to look like a cheapo if tipping him/her is customary.

Thanks in advance!

We've never used bell services other than to hold our luggage but we do tip the ME driver. We've always tipped a few dollars. I've noticed that the majority of people don't tip but the driver is always very appreciative of those who do.

ETA: If we didn't have any luggage that was on the bus with us, I probably wouldn't, but when he/she has to get our luggage on and off the bus for us, I feel a small tip is appropriate.

We have used ME the last several years and I always have small bills on me so I can give $3-$5 to the driver depending on how friendly they have been. I have seen that many people don't bother to the them at all, but what's few dollars, it's worth the smile on the drivers face. I usually give the bell service a $1 for each bag they handled for me.

If we use bell services, we tip $1 or so per bag. We often only use them when we're doing airport check-in at the end and not any other times. I don't tip ME but that's because we don't have any luggage for them to touch and as far as I'm concerned, driving me to my hotel is their job! They haven't done anything extra for me...

We tip $5 to the ME driver. We take our own bags at the resort though and don't use bell services.

We tip the ME driver $5 when we've flown down..... and we always use bell services (most of the time we drive down and have a LOT of stuff:rotfl2: ) and tip about $2.00 per bag..... we like to show appreciation for a job that has got to be a pain sometimes (literally)

We tip $1 per item when we store bags/strollers under the bus and the DME driver needs to get them. The only time we used bell services it was to move to another resort as the room we had been assigned was filthy and and after the manager saw the condition of the room Disney was so embarrassed they upgraded us to a Grand Villa at SSR. In that case they moved all of our bags from three rooms so we tipped $30, $10 per room. I would think if it was just to move your bags from your car or bus it would be $1 per bag or whatever your comfortable with.

A flat $5 for DME if I have bags under the bus (never have more than 5). Same for bell services. I don't carry $1 bills with me so $5's are what I use. Everyone's finances are different, but to me, the extra dollar or two above the customary amount isn't a big deal.

Tipping is supposed to reflect your appreciation of the employee's service. So there is no strict answer when it comes to a tip amount, but if you feel the employee was helpful and increased the enjoyment of your vacation, then you should tip them what you feel is appropriate.

Conversely, if I detect a hint of attitude, or they act like they have better things to do, I will NOT tip (this is rare but it has happened).

On average I find I am tipping around the $1 to $2 per bag range for bell services depending on attitude and helpfulness.

And don’t ever feel obligated to tip if the service is below your expectations, for anything.

I usually tip $1/piece of luggage.

Unless I only have one piece, and then I'd probably tip $2.

Never used ME but we tip bell services $1 per bag when they:
  1. unload bags out of our car
  2. deliver our the bags after check-in
  3. pick-up our bags before check-out
  4. load bags into our car
Yes, that is four separate tips as they may be and usually are four separate people.
