Just curious me, my DH and my DD who is 10 years old were in Orlando for 2 weeks from March 10 to March 24/04. We spent for the two weeks including air, car rental, accomodations for one week (the other we timeshared), food, shopping, two Disney parks, Universal Studios/Island of Adventures, lots of Mini golf at Pirates Coves, dinner out every night i.e. TGIF, Olive Gardens etc. $4335 US or approx. $5636 Canadian (we changed our money at 1.301)

Do you spend this much ?

This averages about $2,818.00 a week.

Does this sound like alot? It seems alot to me now!!!

How much have you spent either in a week or over two weeks?

Oh, this didn't include our airport hotel that was $130.00 but they did keep our van for two weeks.

We went in January for two weeks (myself, dh, dd 12, dd 10) and came back having spent just under $7000 Canadian. That covered airfare, hotel (two bedroom condo at Vistana), car rental, 4 seven day PHP for Disney, 4 Disney Quest passes, mini golf at Pirates Cove twice for the four of us (my girls LOVE it), and of course eating at restaurants and buying souvenirs.
I just looked at our books for our previous trip in 2002 and that time out we spent $6800 so I guess that's our normal amount.
That puts us at about $3500 a week. Your weekly expenditure is looking positively thrifty now isn't it? ;)

The most we have spent was onour honeymoon it was just my wife and I and we went for close to 3 weeks and spent about 15K. This was in 98 and was hotels passes and flights and spending money etc and a car rental for only 1 day plus transportation to and from the airport in Detroit and in Orlando.

There are 5 of us and we usually spend in one week what you did for 2. Disney is expensive and after our first trip I started to have regrets about the amount spent until DH reminded me of all the fun we had and how much the kids and us loved it. Now I pay for things all throughout the year and don't give a second thought to totals.

For a week, we spent $5000. For 10 days we've spent 6-8000. I'd say you're doing pretty well with your budget. Mind you, our recent 11 night non-WDW trip only set us back about $3000, so I can't deny we spend a lot at Disney (note, I don't say we overspend, worth every penny, don't regret it, would do it again in a heartbeat, etc.) Of course, the exchange for our Disney trips was a lot worse, so that could have something to do with it as well.

Kungaloosh!

I've never added it all up because it would be too scary. I do a lot of thrifty ideas but I love to hit the outlet malls so I can't use my credit card statement to figure out the total.

Last September we had the package and it cost us 1500 US for our accomodations and the UHP's for 7 days. We didn't do a lot of special meals and we drive down which saves a lot of money.

When I calculate the cost of a trip I never include the groceries we eat on the way down or in the hotel room because if we were at home we'd be eating groceries.

It's too bad that everyone doesn't know about the codes, and tips to saving money because I often have people tell me they got a quote from Disney and then when they add in food and airfare their trip is going to cost $10,000. I tell them no way, you just need to visit the DIS boards to get information to save money.

Now, that we're DVC I only have to worry about my AP's and food. (Oh yeah and the monthly payment to MC for our DVC mortgage)

But, for the next 50 years :Pinkbounc "I'm going to Disney World":Pinkbounc

The joys of keeping everything on Quicken.

We've ranged from $5500 to $8500 for our last few stays at WDW - there are 4 of us (and we are all now adults as far as Disney is concerned) and we typically stay for 8-10 days. I will be the first to admit that we don't scrimp when it comes to vacations - some people like to live in big houses (with big mortgages) and drive big cars (with big payments), but we like to spend our money on big vacations (with big credit card bills) and the lasting memories they create.

Our cheapest vacation was when we had APs and were able to get two trips in the same year. We saved upwards of $2000 by not having to purchase a second set of PHPs for the second trip.

Since we bought at DVC a few years ago we found that we still spend the same as we did before - only now we spend it on other activities or items rather than on accomodations.

We are 2 adults and we spent $7500 on our 2 vacations this year to WDW.

That is about $3750 to $4000 per trip.

First trip we drove down, bought APs and were gone for 22 days including the 2 weeks there, 2 days on the coast and the drive there and back and also entry to Kennedy Space Centre.

Second trip we flew, already had our APs, spent a week on the coast in St Pete beach, and 2 weeks and one extra day at WDW. We rented a car and also went to Universal.

We stay off-site in a condo and have at least one PS at a nice place every second day.

We bought a ton of souvies for me and clothes for DH. We did not really skimp. I would say...Here is the money for each day and when it was gone...it was gone.

We brought lunchables for lunch in the parks on some days and some snacks. We also froze water bottles too but we did have one snack a day at the parks and sometimes lunch at the parks too. We never felt like we were going without.

I think for the quality of the vacation experience that WDW is a bargain at any price.

I'm sure if we stayed on-site it would cost more but I love having a condo to go back to everynight.

Well lets see..

left on the 27th of feb and returned 0n the 10th March.

2350.00 for accomdations and passes. with 2 lanyards and our names on a plate at EPCOT.

200.00 for gas there and back. We drive a JETTA diesle that gets about 1000 Km's on a tank of fuel.

400.00 for four nights accomodation there and back. we usually stay in macon going down, one night in Kissimmee before going to our resort, usually an ALL STAR. and any clean place north of Atlanta on our way home. However this year we decided to go to Sea World and stayed an extra night just before going into Disney.

300.00 for one day at Sea World for the three of us.

approximately 100.00 day on junk food, breakfast lunch and supper, X 8 days. 800.00

50.00 dollars a day for DD spending money, X 8 400.00

150.00 for dinner in those fancy restaraunts. We may have gone twice through out the whole week. We no longer get sucked into them anymore. food is food.

and 200.00 for miscl activities.

150.00 for dog sitting, thats about it.

although we took an extra 3 days due to driving. it came out of our vacation pay and dont miss it. would have stayed home if we didnt use them with our trip and have plenty to spare in August when we go camping in Kill Bear Provincial Park. ( a must do in On.) if you love water, scenery, and family fun. Very clean too and need to book now if your intersted.) cost about 150.00 for one week. two thumbs up.

2350.00
0200.00
0400.00
0800.00
0200.00
0150.00
----------
4200.00 divided by 12 = 350.00 per day.

This is a concervitive estimate with most costs being accurate. so I Think we did well considering in my opinion Disney is the best place on earth to vacation with your family. Where you can save is on the small stuff. Bring in your own bottled water, snacks for the kids, and fruit bars and power bars etc. instead of the 6.00 dollar pop corn etc and 3.00 pop. and avoid places to eat where you have to leave a big tip. Im not cheap and do tip nice. but I do avoid them when I can. It all adds up at the end of the day.

Now that we are DVC owners the price has come down alot more, and will pay for our trips over 12 months instead of two. So that will take the edge off the stess of paying.

TTFN.

You Can't Put a Price On Happiness and Memories!

But what you spent sounds about right!

After adding costs last year, that's when I decided to look into DVC and bought!

I will let you know after a few trips going "HOME" what it's like! But it will be nice not having to pay for Deluxe Accommodations since it will be taken care of! Bought PAP's before Disney Club went away! So the bulk has already been taken care of!

The best part is when DD says "Remember when we did ........ can we do it again!"

That's when you know it's all worth it!

Our costs average about 4000/week for everything, airfare, accomodations for 5, worth every penny.

I had an a-ha moment recently, Dh and I were considering taking the kids overnight to Toronto (we love Toronto) during March break. We wanted to stay downtown, but when we started looking into accomodations for 5 and we realized how much it was going to cost we thought we could put the money in the Disney fund. We had a family meeting and asked the kids their thoughts they voted to put the money towards Disney. I honestly thought they would have voted for Toronto, instant gratification.
The kids have even begun to re-think how money is spent, we decided to order pizza the other day and 9 year old daughter sat down with me to figure out how much we would have saved making our own. This was her idea so I never miss an opportunity for a math lesson. ::yes:: I think sharing the costs of Disney has made the trips we've taken more valuable and sweeter they understand how to work to save.

flights, as we got 2 on air miles, but still have to pay for taxes. We had 2 adults, 2 children (but one was adult priced).
Total flights 1800, Car rental for 8 days -330 Canadian, 5 day plus pass, and disney quest -1400Canadian, condo $170 Canadian for 8 days!!, Seaworld, food, etc 1,000. So, even with my budget savings, I still averaged, what most of you are saying 3500-4500 range for a week. Christina::MinnieMo

Everyones costs seem to be about the same...which makes me feel better.
2002...we flew...stayed 2 weeks at HIFS, rented a van, and got the 7 day Canadian hoppers. Ate 6 or 7 character meals/on site meals. Total = $10,000
2004...we drove....2 weeks at HIFS...FITS passes (30 day pass @$311 USD)...many character meals. Total $6500.
I'd like to try an all inclusive somewhere, but for the $6500.00, 2 week vacation we had this time, we would be lucky to get 1 week for our family of 5. We'll see.

Hey Karen,

Thanks for the reminder about the Super 7 this week. It's 25 million. That would pay for one heck of "Magical Gathering!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm sure I could find a few people who would want to be at my magical gathering.
