How much did you save using the disboards?

I just had this conversation with my Dfi and we saved about 300.00 on our upcoming trip in August just from the tips I got off the board.

We saved on our rental car and also air fare. What were your savings on your trip? :sunny:

I find the DIS more about learning how to have the best time we can, rather than saving money.

I'm sure I've saved a few bucks, but mainly my sanity was saved.

I've learned so much here. My group (other than myself, 23, 22 and 10) really trust my vacation planning because of this place and what I have learned.

I try to make it a family vacation, but make sure the older boys know they have their own free time, I do not expect them to be around all the time.

I agree 100 %.. I have saved much time and had more than enough questions answered on this board. I have a HM coming up in Aug at the AKL and everyone has been so kind in all the suggestions and recommendations that it has made making plans so easy. :thumbsup2

& I'm estimating our total trip savings, and this does include free dining and our Disney Visa reward points, at just under $2400.oo so far!! DH didn't believe me til I showed him the figures & he's stopped complaining about how much time I spend on these boards at least for a while! Thanks to you all!!!

I was one of those people who thought I had to book through Disney or a travel agent until I found DIS.

In 2004 I found out about the room only AAA rate. I didn't know I could do that.
Then someone told me the 2004 ticket prices were going up, so I bought tickets from AAA on Valentine's Day for our Dec 04 trip.

In the Summer someone pm'd me to tell me about an airline special. I saved a lot of money that way.

Then, thanks to DIS, I found out about a code to get the moderate room even cheaper. I believe I saved almost 1/2 off rack rates with that code.

Best of all was going to Disney the first time feeling like I knew something about the place. There was so much help on this site. I made a plan. We knew where to head when we got to the parks. We just had a blast thanks to fellow Dis'ers.
Someone even let me pay shipping only to get a video of the Christmas WDW show that was on Travel Channel in 2003. People are so nice here.

Had it not been for DIS back in 2004 I would have most likely paid full price and went there with no Priority Seating made, no idea where to eat, no idea when or where to go. KWIM? I love DIS.

I Love the dis! Addicted to it for sure but I have to say I think I spend more $ because I found out about more things that I just have to do or eat!

You must be joking.

I heard all about all the great places I had to stay and eat and the tours I had to take and the dole whip I had to buy etc. This board has probably cost me a fortune. It's great. :lmao:

:goodvibes I have totally saved on our last trip by using tips found on the Disboards. The main two are using the DING! service from the Southwest Airlines website. The second is that last year, we rented DVC points from a Disboard member and saved a ton that way. For 5 nights, we stayed at OKW for $400, it doesn't get better than that.

We would do it again except DF has his heart set on CSR. :thumbsup2

Last year we saved $850 on our adjoining rooms @ CSR with a code I found on the Dis. This year we're saving thousands $12769.76 to be exact. We found out about pool houses from the Dis. The 4 bd/4ba house we're renting is $850 for the week and it's 5 minutes from WDW. Only about 2 minutes more than CSR is from the parks.A 2bd/2ba suite @ the Contemporary is $13619.76 for the same time. We wanted more room than just standard WDW rooms provide. Even DVC Old Key West is 4605.02 for a 2 bd/2ba.Thanks Dis. :cheer2:

Exactly!

Disboards has done nothing but cause me to part with tons of my money at WDW because we keep going back. :rotfl: We had a good time the first time we went, but then when we went back in June 2001 and were moved to AKL because POFQ closed and I knew because of disboards to ask to be moved there, we have been hooked. We've done Cirque, an Illuminations Cruise twice, I've given money to TGM due to recommendations on here...the list is endless.

I'm happy as a lark thought :woohoo:

We're saving $600 this trip! I didn't know SOG had overflow military rate prices at deluxe! And to think last year I paid rack rate at BC, phew, never again! OH, and I think the DIS is costing me more as well. Mr Potato Head...ADRs....and more on the agenda of things to purchase/spend money on.

I would have to say I have negative savings from the DIS as I am now a Disney addict :earsboy: But I will say what I have gained is lots of great information on making the most of my family's, now annual, WDW vacation.

 :lmao: :lmao:
Costing us big-time since I first posted years ago looking for help with our intended 1-time only visit to WDW tent-camping at Fort Wilderness.

We are now planning our 4th family trip & couldn't have done the first one without all the invaluable tips from the Dis.

I've also been "costing" others as I've been recommending DIS boards to anyone who says they'd like to go or have been to WDW.

With 6 in the family the tips/opinions/info/support from the DIS, the many, many photos, the experiences we've had, the family memories have been ...well...PRICELESS! The $ the DIS has saved me in order to experience all those priceless memories is definitely several thousands.
