How much credit for passes during upgrade?

My DH and I just tried to upgrade our 6 day base tickets to AP's. I had calculated it would be $839 but was told $1020. How do I know which is correct? The passes are $355 online but were part of our package. Thanks!
 
I agree with your calculation. 6 day base tickets cost $355 before tax and the Platinum Pass costs $749 before tax. The difference is $394 - multiply that by 2 and it comes to $788 and add 6.5% tax and it's $839.22. Since your tickets are part of a package they're eligible for price bridging, so you should be credited the gate price of $355.

Did you get the pass you wanted to or did they try to upgrade you to a higher end pass or a pass with extras like waterparks on them? that would be the only reason it would be higher..

Try again with a different CM and make sure you know the name of the pass you want to make sure it's what your getting.
 
By my calculations, if they had tried to upgrade her to the Platinum Plus pass (which includes the water parks) she would've been charged $1009, not $1020. It sounds like they didn't give her full gate price credit.
 

I asked for Platinum. I told her I paid $355 each and she said only $200 something so we left. This was at AK. I will try again at DS tonight.
 
Was your package discounted at all? Like free dining or stay, play, and dine?

Actually your final number is correct, so apparently it was just a typo.

It doesn't matter. Tickets that are part of a package are considered discounted because they're sold by Ticketing to Resorts.

I haven't read this anywhere else. How would I know what the discounted price is then?
 
Is it still true that you should use the ticket once before trying to upgrade and then the ticket should show the gate price?
I am going to be upgrading an unused 10 day package ticket to AP in a few days and was wondering if I have to go into a park before upgrading.

OP here - I went to GR at Epcot this morning. I told them what I wanted and mentioned that I had been told I would get credit for gate price. She checked and said that's correct and I paid $839.22 so I'm super happy. Thanks for all the help.

I also had trouble trying to upgrade a park hopper from my package at AK's GR. Although in my case, it was a DVC renewal. I was told that I was "already getting a discount" and so they couldn't do both a DVC renewal AND apply the ticket. I just thanked the CM and left. The following day, I went to GR at MK and got it taken care of without a problem.

Lesson learned: Avoid AK for any ticket-related issues.

I think that we can all agree that everyone can run into good (and not so good) CMs everywhere. But after reading warnings about AK GR on this board, I chose to give them the benefit of the doubt. And I got a not-so-good CM.

Once bitten, twice shy. I won't be attempting to do anything ticket-related at AK again when there are other parks that have proven (to me) that they can AND WILL handle it efficiently.
 
I suspect they might have some CMs that are less trained these days so some functions require a supervisor to override.

Is the temporary test of guest relations in tomorrowland still going? I would suspect the best cms to be at that location because it's temporary and cutoff from the rest of guest relations for help.
 
I'm glad you had a positive resolution! I'm changing my package ticket to an AP in December, and I'm hoping it all goes smoothly.
