How much cash???

This is one area I'm a little unclear as we use our credit card for pretty much everything (airline miles). There are four of us traveling. We'll spend a few days at WDW before our 7 day cruise. I know we need cash for tips (valet at WDW and room service on ship), laundry money but what else? Taxi's if we do shore excusions on our own? How much to take for that? What about shopping in Grand Cayman and Cozemel? Anything else? Any insite on what you did would be a great help. Thanks!

You'll also want to tip the porters at the port who assist you with your bags, and if you do any shore excursions, many of them encourage tipping as well.

If you buy postcards and stamps on Castaway Cay you'll need cash for that as well.

That's pretty much all you'll need cash for, in addition to what you already stated.

Hi Jamie!

Difficult to be specific about how much you'll need (especially as the Western is a bit of an unknown until the inaugural!) but as a rough guide, we spent around $60-70 on taxis on the Eastern last year (didn't do any organised excursions) with about another $30-40 going on beach chairs and beverages to cover both islands. Only spent about $30 cash on souvenirs (although there is plenty of scope for credit card shopping in those jewellers shops! LOL!)

Hi Jamie!

We went to Cozumel and Grand Cayman on another cruise line 5 years ago. At that time things were much cheaper in Cozumel, (jewelry, souveniers) they didn't barter in Grand Cayman, something about the value of our dollar to the British pound at the time!

WebmasterMichelle, great point for the porters at the port..We gave our porter $50.00 for the help after the 3/9 cruise and our last 2 as well..they bust there hump out there all day to help everyone..and many take them for granted..he thanked us very much and said that that is as much as he usually makes for the day..we recognize that and go over-board with tipping..it makes us feel good that we make some ones day..and that there are too many cheapos out there..thats just my opinion..dh..
