we will be in aulani in less than a week, coming from Canada and wondering how much cash should I bring for a trip for two adults, excursion to pearl harbour booked and paid with card, planning a trip to north shore and then mostly just around the resort, just not sure how often you can only use cash vs visa being available?

pretty much every major place accepts visa. definitely everywhere in the resort and the shops across the street. up at north shore, it depends on where you go. it's a toss up with the small food trucks/shops, but many did accept visa.

I don't think we used any cash the last time - everywhere we went took credit card. If you plan to go to the swap meet then you need some cash for that. Some food trucks may be cash only, but I'm sure we used a card at the Leonard's truck. Anyway, I think you can get by with very little cash. There is a Chase ATM in Aulani if you end up needing more (though there will be fees).

Agreed, I can't think of any time we used cash or needed to use cash aside from tipping a bellmen. As mentioned, some of the food trucks may require cash but the major ones like Leonard's or Giovanni's will take cards.

we assume that at the Aulani resort we can just charge everything to our room account and pay on credit card at check out? Is it the same as other Disney resorts that you get X dollars of credit per day. Once your reach that limit the resort automatically charges your credit card?

Thanks!

We were able to charge everything back to our room at Aulani. I don't know if it had the limit like WDW resorts do. I think our final bill was around $1200, and I don't recall the bill showing that anything was charged/posted to my credit card prior to our check-out day. I know that our WDW final bills will show, for example, $500 posted on day 4 and the remainder posting on day 7 check-out day or something like that.

We only used cash for some food trucks, fruit stands and tips for bellmen, shuttle drivers, etc.

Food trucks on north shore are a mix so you may want cash for that unless you know which ones you're hitting. Same with some hole-in-the-wall restaurants even in Waikiki/Honolulu area. Anything else will take plastic.
