How much cash to carry?

Heading out in about 2 days, and doing all the last minute stuff. Everything is booked and we're on the dining plan, so most of our food/drinks are paid for.

I went to the Disney Store today and got some t-shirts, hats and some surprise toys (light spinner, stuffed animals, etc) which I'll stash so he gets something new without having to spend a fortune. I've packed breakfast foods and snacks, so not too much extra money needed there.

It's two of us, myself and my 5 yo.

I do plan to charge souvenier purchases to our room and have them sent back, so how much cash should I anticipate needing? We'll be there 7 days, on site, using magical express and Disney transportation.

Thanks!

 TWO DAYS PEOPLE...TWO DAYS!!!

We leave tomorrow :cool1: and we are planning on charging anything "extra" to our credit card so we can get the Disney points. There are 4 of us and I was planning on packing $500 cash just if needed, for a quick beverage, tips, maybe a quick snack, etc. I don't think that I will need that much, but I wanted to be safe. If I do by any chance need more, I can always run to the ATM. Have a great vacation!

DH and I used to bring $2-300 between us for a week in cash. You'll need cash for tips, small purchases, just misc. things.

Depending on how often we hit the champagne cart in Epcot, we'd sometimes need more. (they only accept cash!)

I would figure $100 a day. I think it's better to have leftover at the end of the trip then run short. JMHO. princess:

So you know the snacks on the food plan are either popcorn in the parks in the cardboard containers at the carts or prepackaged snacks ie: packaged icecream or chips at the resorts. if there is a food court at your resort ie: Pop Century, Por, Por FQ, All Stars. Gratutity is also included on the food plan so you will not need to tip wait staff.Care to tell which resort you'll be at.WE were just at Por the week before Easter
Good Luck have lots of fun

Thanks...

We're staying at POP, and I figured between the snacks in our suitcases, the tons of food we'll get on the plan, and the hidden souveniers, Iwouldn't be spending too much actual cash (with the other souvenier purchases to the credit card on the room)

On the dining plan, tips are included, so where else am I going to need actual cash? Tipping for mousekeeping, and the occasional snack cart item, right?

Starting to rethink my $$ plan...right now I have $100/cash and I'll have my debit/credit card with me.

Hmmmm....

I would take extra money for the GOOD snacks which are not included with the dining plan.

When we used the plan last year, I ended paying extra for, school bread, funnel cakes, soft serve ice cream, cookies, fudge, candy apples, caramel apples... :thumbsup2

We're using the plan again this June(14 year old son and I). I'm planning to budget an extra $10.00 per just for snacks.

Dont' forget the new candy store in DTD. :cool1:

We have been to Disney 7 times and I think the most cash I have ever needed at one time was $20. Especially if you have the dining plan.

Almost EVERYTHING can be charged to your room.(except tips, some snack carts and the wine carts as already noted)

We kept travelers checks in our room, and you can cash them at the front desk if you need to. When we left our room in the morning we made sure we had $20-40 on us. And most days we came back with the same amount. The only time we needed more was when we rented a stroller.
I hate the thought of 'throwing away' money by losing it.
