My hubby and I had this discussion yesterday. He doesn't think we need any cash just plastic. I think we will need cash for parking, and treats in the park.

Then we were discussing travlers checks and he doesn't want them I say they are a must because if the money gets stollen then were out of luck.

There are four of us Me hubby, daughter 5, son 2.

You definitely need some cash. The carts that sell hot dogs, churros, etc do not take plastic. Another consideration to how much cash you will need is if you are staying at a Disney property. If so, you get a card to use at all Disneyland restaurants and shops (except the carts). It will run a daily total for you to be added to your room charge. We love doing this for the convenience.

I thought of travelers checks but once before had such a hassle with them, not at Disney then. But with little kids you might be more distracted and might be a good idea. I took some power bars in with us and we just had one major meal there. We took a little break and went to McD's to eat also. Not our favorite place but helped in cost with everything in and around Disney seeming to charge twice as much as normal but McD's didn't. We didn't buy any souvenirs this time, seems like you can get Disney stuff everywhere these days.

You'll need some pocket money for snacks at the carts but otherwise, you can charge everything else. I think credit cards are the way to go. Don't forget, you can always get cash from the ATM inside and outside of the parks.
