Staying at pop 7 nights--family of 6 (one is baby though). DH doesn't want to bring lots of cash since he would rather use credit card. We are driving for 1.5 days too.

I'm guessing we'd need some for tolls.

How about counter service?

snack stands?

do they all take credit cards?

It depends on where u want to eat. I have figured out how much we would need for each meal for our up coming trip by looking at the menus with the prices on it and just getting a idea what we will like and add it up that way.I usually add a little bit to it just to make sure.Figure in like 20 bucks for snacks or more.My husband likes to get ice cream. My kids will be 3 and 5 when we go and I was thinking of bringing little snack packs with me into the parks for them.I use another web site to see the menus and they also have the prices for all sit down and counter service.
I have a idea on spending money for the 4 of us by what we have picked up in the past.Like shirts, xmas ornaments, frames etc.
Look in ur local Dollar store for little things for the kids that u could give them when u get there and that way it would cut down on the price of buying all those light up toys they sell in the parks.(depending on how old ur kids are)Like glow sticks etc.
I have started a bag like this for our next trip and i think i might see what our disney store has on sale before we go..
the other site i visit is intercotdotcom.

Most snack stands do take CC, not all. Also the little lights and twirl abnoxious toy vendors don't take CC. Balloons no CC. Vendors walking around no CC. Anything established in a location generally takes CC.

We typically don't take cash to the parks. Its wonderful not to worry about whether to buy the abnoxious toys.... "Sorry kids, we didn't bring cash!"

Good luck!

Yes, you'll definitely need cash for tolls in Florida, as their electronic toll system is not compatiable with those from other states. Don't forget to have small bills/coins on hand!

Most CS places accept major credit cards -- the only exception are the snack wagons that aren't in "fixed" locations (e.g., popcorn cart).

That said, I would carry a small amount of cash for snack wagons, tolls, vending/game machines, and whatever tipping you plan to do.

Otherwise, plastic is the way to go...

Tips for the Mousekeepers. I'm the QUEEN of never having any cash but for our Disney vacations I usually make sure I head to the ATM before hitting the road for tolls and snacks at the carts inside the park. We still use our bank cards mostly and our credit cards a little so I usually only get about 100 bucks in cash, my husband gets some cash too, but since we have seperate accounts(it works for us) he get's his own cash and we use our joint account to pay for everything else. We're renting a house this year so I don't have to worry about having tips for the cleaning crew but since you're staying on property you don't want to forget the wonderful ladies who clean your rooms everyday.

I would say take as little cash as possible. Get Travelers checks!!!! they can be traced if stolen or lost. JMHO. I would suggest $200.00 in cash for tolls and snack stands. But I do believe most of them take debit/credit cards. All places take travelers checks.
Have fun on your trip.

to add to this. Would you believe this? when we were staying at All Star Sports, I acutally had to leave a note for the cleaning people to take the tip left for them. Our cleaning crew was honest!!! :woohoo: love that. We left the cash on the bed in the morning and when we got back our room was clean and the cash was on top of the made bed. SO the next day we left double and put a nice note to them thanking them for their honesty and to please take the tip we left for them.

I jsut wantes to point out that they have atm's(at least at Pop where we are staying) in the lobby. So if you do not take much and then end up wanting more you can get it that way.

We are taking about $150 in cash and DD has $30 disney dollars.

I think we took $100-$150 apiece. We only paid cash for a few things, otherwise we used our Disney Visa Rewards for everything. We both had money left when we came home. You should get a roll of quarters before you go for the tolls.
