Trying to do our(myself, wife, 7MO) 7 night trip without using a credit card.. Our VWL is paid for, our 7 day park hoppers are paid for and we have bought 8 Q&C's...

Our current PS are at Yachtman and Bomas for dinner and Bomas and Whispering Canyon(twice) for breakfest.. We will probably mix up our other meals with another nice sit down dinner, Roaring Forks and perhaps a dinner or two outside of WDW, possibly a Lobster Feast and Uno's...

Nothing else planned, just 7 casual days at WDW...

Will $1000 get it done???

It's so hard to predict how much you'll need. My question to you is - why wouldn't you want to use a credit card? Put most of the $1,000 in the bank, charge your meals, etc. It's a free loan as long as you pay the credit card bill in full. My philosophy is never have a credit card that doesn't offer premiums; never pay an annual fee for one; and always pay the bill in full. You can get a lot of free merchandise, gasoline, or $$$ each year doing that. Just a thought! Have a GREAT time whether you use cash or credit! ;)

I wouldn't want to carry cash. We take $200.00 and usually have half left (pays the airport parking fee when we get home). You can charge most things with a charge card or charge it to your room and pay for it all at once. We use cash for snacks and items under $10.00 usually.

We always leave our debit card number at the front desk(as a credit card) and charge everything to our room. We bring all of our own snacks from home and leave them in our room. We also eat breakfast in our room, bring that from home as well. We eat lunch and dinner out, and have never had to charge more than $600 to our room, and that was on a 14 day trip. It is myself, DH, DD 16, DS 13, DS 6 and we had a great time. We did take advantage of passholder discounts on meals. We never have more than about $100 cash because we don't need it. Charging to our room is the best way for us!

I'll add another vote against cash. As RachelTori said, why spend cash when you can use your credit card and rack up whatever reward points it provides (air miles, hotel points, cashback, etc.). Just pay the bill in full when you get it. You'll spend the same amount either way and benefit by earning the rewards. Another option is to pre-pay your credit card. Send them a check for $1000 (or whatever) before you go. Then you'll have a credit on your account for that amount and won't get a big bill after you return.

I usually go down with about $300 cash and return home with most of it. You just need some cash on hand for tips (airport, bellhop, etc) and little snack stands like popcorn and ice cream. You can charge everything else.

:) Did a daddy daughter trip the first of the month:p Did for Less than $$ 700.00.5 nites 6 days, Ate out on most meals and still came home with some cash left over! Yes this is doable trip imho....But we go down quite often and eat at the places we know we will be happy at ,and visit the parks (we have aps to seaworld /bush gardens ioa/us)We also go to the outlet stores for our souviner/shirts.Have a great trip!

I understand about not wanting to use a credit card. I have a hard time using credit and not overspending. I have used cash for my last 5 WDW trips and don't have buyers remorse when I get home.

For my family of one adult and two kids 11 and 8 I usually budget $700 for our two week trip. That takes care of all our meals and some souvineers (we don't buy a ton).

We used to do seven nights for $100 a day in eating and spending money. I'd take seven $100 travelers checks. Spend one a day and when the money was gone it was gone. Generally we'd have plenty of money left over the last afternoon - then it was souvienier time. And yes, travelers checks are still available and still work. (If you have a credit card, bring it along and tuck it away - just in case.)

And we'd eat out at nice places several times.

But it does really depend on you and your wife. It should be fine, but if you have the sudden urge for a lot of souvieniers, an expensive bottle of wine with dinner, you could blow your budget.

Check out the menus over at www.allearsnet.com. Remember to add tax and tip. Then you will have a better idea based on what you think you'll eat/spend than strangers can tell you. You may even discover that you'll have a lot more money available - and decide for a few more PSs.

:earsgirl: i need at least 1500.00, just to blow on gifts!!!!!!!disneykid:crazy:

Hi I'm going in October with my huband and we have done a seven day trip on 1.000. We set 60.00 a day on food and the rest on soviners or drinks or what ever . We stayed at CSR so even the food court was a little more but we had no problem at all but we don't eat breakfest at all usually. We ate counter service and one sit down a day and waters and snacks when we felt like it. Some days we had no money left over and other days we had quite a bit left over but it all evened out in the end. We never shared meals either. Unless I didn't finish mine and DH ate the rest. KELLY P.S We did have an extra 150.00 his boss gave him that we spent on beer and drinks that can add up quickly for example 1 beer and one of my specialty drink around 12.50. I don't like beer at all. I like the hard stuff.
