How much cash.... all things Disney?

Disny is a hobby / obsession, obviously, to some of you.

BBQ is mine.... as a matter of fact I am BBQing right now at 9AM Sunday morning ( not grilling ). My whole "investment" in my hobby is like $2500, maybe. Probably closer to 2K in my whole 43 years, including all the cost of meat.

I don't think I could allow myself a hobby / obsession that could easily be a down payment on a nice house, or fully pay for a really nice car.

But, hey, to each their own.

Every trip we have made to Disney I always estimate that each trip costs us apx $1,000 per person. That's figuring in everything; flying, staying in a "nice" hotel, food (my kids are boys and were mostly teenagers on all these trips!! ) passes and some miscellaneous stuff. We have taken 2 trips with our 3 sons and 3 trips with just 2 sons. This Fall it's only going to be me and 1 son so yup definetly over 25k.

With DVC (cost per night by points), airfare, food and AP passes, and oh, yes, souveniors we spend well over $8000 per 10 day trip.

That would be my vote and I don't even own DVC!

My answer was $10,000-$25,000. Have gone about once every year since 1990. Money well spent IMO!!!

My house is not decorated in Disney(with the exception of my blue Mickey tea kettle and canisters), I don't have stuffed animals and stuff, I don't wear Disney clothing
However I am sure I have spent over $25,000, because I LOVE WDW and go as often as I can.

We are DVC Memebers, so that's more than half of the $25,000 right there, plus all the spending money, airfare, annual passes, plus the 10 or so trips prior to joining DVC..plus we have little ones who have the stuffed animals, the clothes, the DVDs...

Money well spent, IMO!

Hey, people spend money on all kinds of things to make them happy that over the course of 10, 15 or 20 years would add up to enough money for a down payment or buy a car. Look how much it costs to go to the show, out to dinner, alcohol, electronic equipment, shoes. All kinds of things. Just part of the spoiled era we live in.

He is already on record as saying $10 is too much to go to a show, so maybe he is buying crappy meat. I don't know exact numbers but I would bet we spend about $25 per week on meat. Thats over $1000 per year. That doesn't count buying meat at WDW, thats prob. another $1000.

I voted over $25,000 - this includes 3 trips to WDW in the last 20 months with having to fly across the country, 1 trip was for 6 of us. I have a lot of items in my home, dishes, bedding, lithographs, snowglobes, clothing, etc.

Also my oldest DD's wedding at DL 3 years ago for 10 of us. It was over $5,000 but worth every penny.

Also numerous DL trips over the years.
