How much can you charge to room at BCV?

Hello! We will be staying at the BCV in December for 5 nights. I was just wondering what the room charging limit they give you was at BC? Is it the same for DVC? Thanks!

Just a guess here, but I would imagine it would be equal to the limit on your credit card.

IIRC, DVC is the same as the deluxe hotels - $1500. They may actually charge your card before you reach that amount, though, so it's a good idea to ask at check in.

I also do not know for sure if they place a "hold" on your account for that amount when you check in or just wait until the charges accumulate to the $1500 limit. If you have a relatively low limit on your credit card, those "holds" can be a problem, especially if the car rental agency does the same thing. You can always ask at check in to have a lower limit if the higher limit may cause a problem.

True, but this is an on-going cycle of "charge $1500 to your room...Resort charges credit card...charge $1500 to your room ect..."

We've been to Disney before and given a card on check in. They have never placed a hold on any of our cards. I know when we stayed at ASmo the limit was $500 and when we stayed at Port Orleans it was $1000 I think, so it makes sense that it would be $1500 for the deluxes. I think we had a $1500 limit when we stayed at the Poly but I can't remember! I do know that is has nothing to do with the limit on your card. We always leave our check card on check in-no interest, and a few years ago at ASMo, we only had about $250 on the card we left (we were only there two nights) and the limit was still $500. If they try to charge your card, and it gets declined, they will just ask you to come settle your bill with another form of payment, but this has never happened to us.

We plan on having plenty available on our trip this year, just was wondering the magic number was! Thanks!

Just got back from BCV and everyone is correct. It starts out at $1500. I was told at check in that if the charges go over that amount and wherever you are says you can't charge anymore, have them call back to the BCV. The BCV will then charge your credit card for the current balance and give you another $1500.

OK, here's a follow up question. Do they allow you to leave a credit card number, and then settle up with cash or travelers checks and NOT charge your card? Or is your card charged each time you use it?

Another educated guess here:
You can always settle up with cash first, but you have to "catch them" before they bill your card. Some resorts will call you upon request when you get close to the billing amount, or you could check every morning.

We always leave a card and then settle up with cash or TC's. They may have already charged your card if you go over the "limit," but will issue a credit if you are then paying cash. BE CAREFUL to watch what exactly gets charged and that your credit is issued properly (you can look over your room bill to see this). Once when we did this, the CM inadvertantly charged us twice instead of issuing a credit. We caught it immediately and were able to correct it within minutes, but make sure you look it over!
In an attempt to avoid this situation in the future, I now give them the TC's when we check in to credit against the room account. I've never had them actually charge the card since.

Yes, you can always pay cash just make sure to tell them you do not want express check out. If you sign up for express check out they automatically charge your credit card and put your bill on or under the door by 8:00 AM of the morning you are checking out, that way you don't have to go to the front desk. If you pay cash you will have to go by the front dest to check out.
