How much are your kids school lunches?

Ours are pretty high at $3.75 if you want milk with it ($3.25 without). I've got 3 kids and there's just no way we can afford that $11.25 a day. Plus, you have to load their accounts in increments of $20, and if you don't use it all, you forfeit it. I always have my kids pack their own lunches from home. That way at least I know they are getting stuff they will eat, and I can try to shoot for 3 fruits and a veggie every day between lunch and snacks.

$3 elementary, 3.25 middle, $3.50 high school. The food is supposed to be grosd., so my kids bring lunch, and just go out in high school.

$2.15 for elementary (she brings a lunch most days since Michelle's deal).

$2.75 for middle school & the lunches are both better & the portions larger.

Breakfast and lunch are served free here. Breakfast has been free for years now, but free lunch just started this year. It was $1.25 before.

My kids went to private k-8. A caterer did lunch for 5 bucks the last few years

In HS my kids brought their lunch. The cafeteria was a zoo and the did not want to set foot in there

$3 for lunch in Baltimore. Breakfast is free to all, and our after school care program just added an early dinner at no extra cost. The city plans for lunch to be at no cost eventually as well.

The city school system has worked with local farms (including some set up in reused urban spaces) to serve fresh veggies and fruits with lunches.

My youngest loves school lunch, so I pay for it a few times per week. My oldest will only eat home lunch. Neither eat breakfast at school, but they sometimes eat in after care if they like the good choice that day!

$2.00/day. I only have one in high school. This is cheap compared to the meal plan for our two in college! Still, he only buys about two or three days a week. Depends on the menu.

$2 for lunch
He takes a packed lunch 99% of the time because I like to control the ingredients the kids eat. :)

$2.35 at a private Catholic school. And they sell mostly processed junk - hotdogs, pizza, etc. plus chicken nuggets are a choice everyday. I make lunch - no fillers (used to hit calorie guidelines) and no artificial colors or flavors.

$2.20 elementary
$2.45 middle school
$2.70 high school

My daughter is in high school and likes their lunches. They get an entree, fruit, vegetable, salad bar and milk. She likes having hot food for lunch so I'm fine with her buying.

2.95 and then milk is .45.

I let my kids pick 3 times a month for hot lunch.

The meals are decent...but still, it would be $136 a month if they picked each day..

The cost in our district is $2.50 but we pay $0.40 because we qualify for reduced lunch (If you are military living on post they do not count your housing allowance since it goes straight back to the military)
Even at 40¢ I pack most days because they don't like the menu
My daughter likes to eat breakfast at school every day though because she is not hungry when she first gets up so prefers to wait until she is at school to eat. We pay 30¢ for breakfast

Our school only offers hot lunch a few times a month. It's $5+ depending what they have.

2.20 for one and 2.40 for the other.

Mine prefer to have packed lunches from home. I generally make them the night before so we aren't rushing in the mornings. We do things like wraps, I recently started making my own dough for pizza lunchables. They request home made more than the store bought stuff. We have always packed lunches. I can't justify paying that much for school lunches for 2 kids when I can pack healthier food cheaper.

They do eat 1 day a week at school, DD loves the spicy chicken sandwiches they make and DS is a pizza fanatic.

$2.30 for lunch (grammar school)
70 Cents for milk and snack (1/2 day kindergarten)

I pack lunches, as my kids don't like the hotdogs/hamburgers/etc that the school serves. I'm enjoying it while it lasts! LOL! I'm sure as they get older they will want to buy that junk!

Our district charges $2.40 for elementary school lunch. DS takes his lunch everyday, school lunch has never appealed to him.

K-6 is $2.25

DDs say it's GROSS ! They always complain of hair in the food -- and no, the café people don't have to wear hairnets in our district.
They will buy maybe once, sometimes twice per week if it's something that they think is decent.

They sell the extras too -- juice, water, chips, ice cream -- but DDs never buy the extra stuff.

The 5th / 6th grade sells Gatorade and snacks on Tues and Fri as fundraiser for fieldtrips so they buy that once per week.
