Can they be rented at the resort and used all day/everywhere or do they need to be rented at each park?

Thanks,

We're staying at POR and will be fully relying on WDW transportation for this trip.

6 0r 7 years ago my MIL got injured just before our trip and insisted she could make it on vacation on her own. She was wrong. She did not make it thru the airport. When we checked into CBR we inquired about outside companies for a wheelchair rental and they said they had them at the resort no charge. I would call POR direct and see if this is still the policy and if they can make sure there is one waiting for you when you check in.

POR will provide you with a wheelchair at no cost.

yes, some of the wdw resorts will provide a wheelchair for a day, we were staying at the bwv and needed a wheelchair for dd, hurt his knee right before we left for wdw, well dd knew we power park, that means we do all 4 parks in one day, and try to use wdw transportaion except for animal kngdom to long on the bus, anyways, we thought we would have a hard time with the wheelchair and transportaion, and it was a breeze, we went to alk first we drove then back to the bwv to drop off the van then a boat to mgm, a bus to transportation tickect station, to monorail to the kigndom, monorail transportation tickect stationot to epcot, and finally walk back to the bwv, the boat took to long, we even beat the boat. return the free wheelchair and had a really nice time::yes::

Most of the WDW resorts do have some wheelchairs to lend out free of charge during your stay, but they are first come, first served and they generally will not reserve one ahead of time for you. Some DIS posters have had very good experiences with getting one from their resort, but others have found that what was available was either not in the best condition or not a good size (extra wide when they needed narrow or vice versa). People have posted it took anywhere from a few hours to a few days to get a more suitable wheelchair.

Even if you decide to get one from the resort, a lot of people still take the contact information from the offsite equipment rental places. These are the ones DIS posters report good experiences with:

http://www.scootaround.com/ Not much feedback. Several people who reported they had no problems.

You can also rent them by the day at the parks. Here's a link to a page on the official Disney site that gives the information. It is less expensive usually to rent from one of the offsite places than to rent from the parks each day. Plus, you would have the wheelchair for use in other places like DD or at your resort.

One thing I forgot. If you rent at the parks, the wheelchair can't be removed from that park. But, if you plan to go park hopping, you can show your receipt at the second park and get a wheelchair that same day without paying a second time.
They have a pretty good supply of wheelchairs and are not likely to run out. If you choose to rent an ecv (electric scooter), they are limited quantity and unless you get to a park early in the day, you may not get one.
