As you can see I just got married a little over a week ago, but I was wondering how many years do most people wait before they do a vow renewal. I have been told several different things and I am curious when I can get to experience the Disney Vow Renewal experience. I guess I am already having wedding planning withdrawl. :flower3:

I think that totally depends on you and your DH. Some do it every yr, some 5 some 25. I don't think there is a right answer.

I know what you mean about having withdraw. My husband and I got married a little over a year ago and I am already planning our 5 year renewal! We hope to do it every 5 years.

Like everyone has said already, it's TOTALLY up to the individual, but my DW and I had such a "memorable" wedding, (and not for great reasons) that I have decided to surprise her with a vow renewal for our 5 yr anniversary and we only just got finished celebrating our 2nd anniversary in December! :lmao:

We are doing a vow renewal for our 10yr

We factored in a few things:
1 like having our daughter present an young enough to enjoy WDW
2 my DH parents(they are in their 70's)never went to our 1st DFTW
3 we wanted to celebrate, cause in this day and age, marriages are shorter, so we wanted to do something special

besides, we had such an awesome time the 1st time we couldnt resist doing it again
:rotfl:

As you can see I just got married a little over a week ago, but I was wondering how many years do most people wait before they do a vow renewal.

We were going to do it every year (we made that promise when we eloped) but life basically got in the way.

We didn't officially celebrate with a vow renewal until our 20th. We had a custom FTW vow renewal and it was magical beyond belief. I must admit that the prior year (for our 19th anniversary) wasn't too shabby either. It wasn't a vow renewal, but it was a private dinner party that was held on the ballroom set of the "Haunted Mansion" movie. It was a very fun way to celebrate our wedding anniversary (and it set the stage for our 20th).

We are toying with the idea of having an intimate vow renewal this year. The past couple of years have seen life throw all sorts of curve balls at us. I think a vow renewal would be a nice way to put all that crazy stuff behind us. However, my husband wants us to wait until our 25th. I tasked him with the planning of it since I had planned our 20th. I might have to wait another couple of years. ;)

So, as you can see, whenever you want to have a vow renewal, have one. There are no rules when it comes to the heart.

By the way, congratulations on your recent marriage. I wish you all the happiness in the world.

My DF wants to do a VR every 5 years with just one catch - we can only do them at WDW every 10 years - so I guess our first one will be on DCL! :cutie:

I agree it is totally a personal decision. DH doesn't want to do one. I kind of think maybe for our 10-year. If we do it, I'd like to do it where we got engaged, on the beach, but I don't really think we'll actually do it. I do want a 10-year anniversary ring though ;)

We are planning for one on our 10th anniversary. Only 2 more years to go.

I remember saying exactly those words when we just got back from our Disney wedding (1st anniversary coming up in a few weeks).

I have decided that (hopefully) a 5 year VR will be on the cards.
I would love to do it all over again.

It is looking like we are planning to do one in 5 years too. I guess that will give me something to look forward to and dream about.... LOL...

Totally a personal choice, like getting married. I would like to do it at 4 years. Nothing magical about 4 years, but we are separated by jobs right now, and at 4 years, we will be living together again.

Since i am not able to have a disney wedding; my fiance promised me that we could have our vr on our 1 yr anniversary and have the wedding the way that we want it not the way our parents said we had to have it!! princess:

I wanted to have our VR for our 10th anniversary which would have been April, 2006. However, my DH was deployed in September, 2004 and didn't return until January, 2006. So we had our VR on our 11th anniversary and turned it into a family reunification vow renewal. It was wonderful!! My DH let me plan whatever I wanted and never questioned anything; however, I don't think I could talk him into doing a Disney VR again!!! LOL

When DH and I decided to have a Disney wedding at home, instead of the DFTW, I had dreamed of. We said we were going to have a vow renewal at 10 years. We are sticking to this. Our 10th is 9/09, but we love WDW at Christmas time, and it was special time for my now deceased grandparents. So we decided to have it 12/09. It should be great..DS #1 will be 8 and DS #2 will be almost 3 (born last week).

I can't wait...I'm going to start putting feelers out there to see who in my family will be able to go, so I can see if I will be intimate or custom. My guess is custom, probably around 45-50 family/friends.
