Hi all

We haven't decided if we will go for a wine package yet, as might just stick to a glass or cocktails, but if we do, how many are we supposed to buy? will be 4 adults in 2 staterooms? Do we have to buy 4 (which is way too much), or just 2?

Thanks

You could get one or two no need to get four, it's for the cruise length depends how much you drink.

For flexibility order a lower amount if you get through it fast you can still buy another.

The wine package is not per person or per night it is the amount of bottles. Decide how many bottles of wine you will want (you can take home ones you don't use) and go from there. There are 3,4,5, and 7 bottle packages so if you are going to want more than 7 bottles you will get more than 1 package. You can get the bottles from all the MDRs, Palo and bars but not Remy. Have a great trip.

We've gotten the wine package when cruising with my in-laws, and we usually split one among the 4 of us. One bottle of wine is plenty for us for dinner - the servers can usually get us 1-1.5 glasses each with dinner. If we want more, we'll just order our favorite cocktail with dinner, or in the bars.

We'll probably get a 7n package on our upcoming 12n cruise, and see how long it lasts. My DMIL doesn't usually want more than one glass, but that just means more for the rest of us! :thumbsup2

I didn't see any need to buy the package. Seemed like you weren't saving much if any money and the package had a limited number of wines.

For wine drinkers you do save a lot, its about 25% cheaper and served at the table and cool, its well worth it.

There was a reasonable choice and each home port has a different selection.

For four adults, I'd get one package. That is one bottle of wine a night, and a little more than a glass a piece. If you all drink more than that, then you could always just get a glass or another bottle!

I've done the math for both packages out of PC, and the Classic package has the best discounts overall, over purchasing the same wine on land and paying a corkage fee. It does look like most of the Premium package are actually less expensive to bring on the ship and pay the fee in the dining room than to pay the average price on the package. However, I couldn't find all of them locally (or online) so there is that factor as well.

Personally, I look at it is a convenience - we don't have to worry about bringing bottles of wine on the ship, and can look forward to having wines we enjoy with dinner. Overall it's a bit of savings vs. purchasing by the glass or getting cocktails every night. Is it a savings over bringing your own on board to enjoy in your room? No - but then we are rarely in our room when enjoying a glass of wine.

Disney Cruise Line Wine Packages

On the Disney ships, you can buy a wine package, either classic or premium, which results in paying less for the wine than if you purchased those bottles individually during the cruise. Of course, you still pay a premium versus retail in a store, just like you would at any restaurant. While you can purchase the wine package prior to sailing, it is very easy to purchase onboard. Indeed, many people will be approaching you on embarkation day to sell you the wine package, and you can buy it at any point during your cruise from your servers. I always buy from my main dining room (MDR) servers so that they get the credit for the sale.

Note that although the packages say “Day,” as in “Three Day” package, “Four Day” package, etc, they truly mean “Bottle.” You do NOT have to buy the same number package as the number of days of your cruise. For example, you can buy a “Three Day” package on a 7 night cruise. You can buy a “Seven Day” package on a three or four night cruise. Disney wants you to buy wine, so they are happy to sell it to you any way you want.

In the MDR or at Palo, you can choose from the list each night to match what you want for dinner. Any leftover wine can be stored for use tomorrow at your next restaurant, even if tomorrow will be Palo, or you can take the bottle with you to your room. Also, you can order any number of bottles any night. Want a bottle of red and two bottles of white with dinner tonight? No problem.

The wine packages are very flexible and easily purchased onboard, where you can have your questions answered by your server or any other cast member.

There are classic and premium packages. Each package lists the available wines:

Are you on my cruise, and can I hang with you guys? :lmao:

Each port has a different wine selection. Check here, select your port then the wine packages are down towards the bottom of the list. http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/in-room-gifts-and-shopping/

The classic package is a better value and there were some nice wines on the list for our cruises out of Port Canaveral. The Zolo Malbec was a hit with our crowd of 19 adults that includes some wine snobs. We thought the Wolf Blass Cabernet Sauvignon was better than the Castle Rock Cab. I also liked the Layer Cake Shiraz and my mother and stepfather liked the Pinot Grigio from Italy. We all had fun tasting the different wines because we got several wine packages.

They will split the cost between your rooms if you would like also.
