How many TS meals do you plan?

Hi all,

Our upcoming trip in August is the first time we'll be at the World for an extended time -- 10 days! Woohoo! We'll also be on the dining plan for 7 of the nights. It will be me, DH, and our two girls (ages 4 and 6).

We've planned the following ADRs (some we're paying out of pocket):
Monday Sci Fi (dinner)
Tuesday Chef Mickey's (breakfast)
Wednesday Tokyo Dining (dinner for me and hubby, kids will have pizza with relatives)
Thursday CRT (lunch)
Friday Cali Grill (dinner)
Saturday Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Sunday Hoop De Doo (dinner)
Tuesday Tusker House (breakfast)

My question:
We usually don't plan a table service meal for every day of the trip... will this be too much time devoted to food? My hubby thinks we'll be okay (he says it will be a welcome respite from the heat)... but me (a park commando), I think it might be a little much for our kids to have to sit through a meal every day.

Thoughts?

Our kids are 5 & 6 and 1 TS a day is a must for our family. Our kids enjoy the much needed *cool* down and *slow* down break from touring the parks...ESPECIALLY in the heat. I have found that even though you may think it is taking away from time in the parks, that break really makes a difference in our kids enjoying their time in the parks. :)

It is hard in the hot August sun. We plan a TS everyday, on some days two, and it's a nice air-conditioned break. Usually once during a 7 - 10 day trip, we will end up cancelling a TS ADR. That's usually because we are at the pool or a park and having a fun time, and no one wants to gets to the ADR. The summer park hours are long, especially with EMH, and it's nice to have an extended sit down break.

We plan on one (and sometimes two) TS per day. It's just such a nice break from the heat and the crowds and the running around. I always worry that the CS places will be crowded with long lines, that it will be hard to get a table, or that we'll be out of the a/c when eating, so I prefer to have an ADR at a TS place.:)

At least one every day. Sometimes we do morning sometimes night.

Love going to dinner after our swim in the pool shower and nap every afternoon.

I always plan a TS dinner for every night of our stay. For a weekend stay I add a departure day buffet breakfast and for a 11 day stay I will add in 2-3 TS breakfasts, 2-3 TS lunches and a TS dinner for every night

We go for 8 days and do at least one a day. 1-2 days we will do two but it'll be a before the park opens BF at the MK and a quick lunch at Sci Fi or something like that.

Our trips are usually 7-10 days . If on FD, we have a TS each day, if not we have 3, usually a breakfast and 2 dinners. We DO think one every day dictates our park touring plans, so it is an adjustment to us commando's, but on the flip side we have enjoyed restautants and theming that I know we would not have been able to budget in if not on FD. To me, FD took up time for sure because restautants were all crowded so the turn around time is just simply longer, so I did find myself looking at my watch ( especially if it meant a FP was involved) but we had no problem with any FP being honored AFTER the return time, so that helped. You just have to "let go" as a commando, let the kids enjoy the restaurant, especially if it is a character meal. I mean, you will not be using up any more time than if you were waiting in line for autographs etc. I am assuming you are arrivng 3 nights prior to FD starting...this is a GOOD thing! We did it one year, the parks were VERY manageable, transpprtation smooth...then the day FD started...BAM!.....the floodgates opened and the masses ensued! If this is the case for you, Go commando those forst 3 days, by then you will be ready to enjoy all your TS down time!

:cool1:This year because of FD we have scheduled 7 TS meals. Normally I wouldn't do that many, but figured this would be the time to try some new TS and still do some old favorites:love:. We are doing Ohana for BK & Dinner which is new to us. As well as Tony's Town Square. Our old favorites are Sci-Fi and Chef Mickey's BK & Dinner and let's not forget CRT for BK. That's a must do!!! Enjoy!!!

We do one a day. Sometimes 2 times if we do a early breakfast. It's great downtime from the heat and crowds.

We just got back from our week long trip May 9-15. We made ADR's for 7 TS dinners. These were great breaks in the day that allowed us time to sit, talk and relax. When we go back again we will definitely do this. Of course we also did this strategy when on our honeymoon eight years ago. My parents also used to do this when we stayed at Disney each year. We found that dinners were better for us since we did not like big breakfasts before heading out into the 90 degree heat. We were shocked with the extreme heat so early in May...it was much like it will be for you.
