How many trips to WDW before you bought DVC?

One.

We booked a BWV room through CRO in Sept. 2003 on the "fairytale" package (7 days for the price of 4).

Fell completely in love. Met many members who convinced us to join. Did the sales pitch for SSR when it was just a drawing and a concept.

Went home and realized that owning DVC was better than buying a "fairytale package" every year. Made an offer on a BWV resale and became owners in Oct. 2003.

19 trips for us. Were just never in the right place money wise. Would have had to finance through Disney, and with the interest rate they charge we just figured staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins (kind of like a 1 BR at any of the Villas) for a very reasonable price made more sense. Once we got into a position to pay cash for our points (and after becoming hooked by staying at BWI and BC on adults only trips) we finally took the plunge.

around a dozen
Stays included...POR (a few times), BC, SoG, offsite vacation homes. All hold fabulous memories but gosh that was a lot of $$ that we could have put into points  Better late than never...we're still in rofr limbo right now but we will soon be official, I just know it!

3 WDW +1 DLP. Here's the condensed story:

4/88 offsite
9/98 Caribbean Beach
7/00 Disneyland Paris (lived in Europe for 1 yr)

11/00 Decided I wanted to join DVC
2/02 Port Orleans
3/03 Finally convinced DW!
7/03 purchased pts at BCV sight unseen.

12/04 First trip home to BCV.

Next trip: SSR in 10 days.

Can't wait... No DVC regrets!!!

only one that's all I needed! Now i'm hooked but I can't even decide when to take my next vacation, I had better start planning because that 11 month window will creep up on me unexpectedly!

Without looking at my signature I can't be sure, but I think about six trips altogether. I started getting interested the first time I saw the kiosk but just figured it wasn't the economical way to go and that DVC may just be for suckers! I preferred to use the discounts available out there and didn't actually think I'd own. You'd be more likely to find me on the budget board than the DVC board.

Anyway, the way it happened was this, and I think Disney had it all planned! We were booked at PO-FQ and it closed for renovations. Shortly before the trip, CRO called me to rebook and offered me BWI for about the same price as PO-FQ, so I couldn't really be upset my resort choice wasn't available.

Anyway, when we checked into BWI, there seemed to be some trouble getting us throught the process. A new CM was training and she took an inordinately long time at the desk. Anyway, the manager came over to her, told us to excuse them for a minute, and then for some reason unknown handed me a key and told me that our key gives us access to the conierge services and told us we had been upgraded. I didn't question it. He said that he was sure we would enjoy our stay very much.

Imagine my surprise when we got to our room, which was actually one of the cottage suites. We were too excited. In addition, there was an invitation on one of the desks to tour DVC with a $100 Disney Dollars incentive. Of course, the tour location was too convenient not to make a stop by. The rest is history. I think they had it all planned! How masterful!
