How Many Trips Can I Milk?~A PTR

Love the pictures from Irish dancing, my dd has friends that do that, it looks like a lot of fun.

I made another trip to a different Walmart and finally found some of the Tink body wash and lotion :woohoo: Thanks for sharing or I would have never gone to look for it. :goodvibes

By the time I finish all of the trainings, school will be about ready to start up again. So there all of you meanies who say, "Teachers have 3 whole months off from work."

I agree with you. So many people think we have lots of time. But we're stuck training and going to meetings.

First of all welcome back. I missed you being here to read your updates and chat, gald to have you back.

Oh my goodness! You went above and beyond the call of duty for your homework. I give you an A+!
Yes A+, I haven't had 1 of those in a few years :woohoo:

Sat. (the day before we left)

The feis was fabulous. Here are some pics from Faith's debut.

Later that day we met up with friends who were in town, and we got to hold this cutie!

Sun. (the day we left)

Clearly we had perfect weather on our drive to Savannah!

DSCN1745.jpg

But braving our way through the weather was worth it...we absolutely LOVED Savannah!

DSCN1758.jpg

We didn't get to do this, but I wanted to!
DSCN1767.jpg

We did take a ghost tour. It was too much fun and too spooky!

DSCN1771.jpg

If one were inclined, one might think those circles in the pic above are "spirit orbs". But I have my doubts...;)

Savannah was truly beautiful. That's a city I would definitely visit again.

Now I'm off to finish making a vodcast that I have due on Sat. (This is for a program I do that's sponsored by my school district.)
Great pictures. Faith looks so cute :cutie:

Shame about the weather but glad it looked brighter when you were there. I have only seen the pictures of you at your wedding before so didn't realise that was you with the baby at first. Its pretty cute.

I feel the need to add a few details to my previous post...

1. Tell me if you think this is weird and how you would have handled this. I was baffled. So my good friend with the baby was over at our house that Sat. before we left. She had been breast feeding the baby on our couch. She and I had been chatting, and I had no problem with her feeding the baby in front of me. She was covered up, and goodness gracious, we're all girls. It was at this point that DH came home through the front door. Now I'm sure he knew what was going on, but he sat down at the dining table that was in the connecting room. He certainly wasn't looking right at my friend (as neither of us were), but she says to him, "Ummm, I'm going to need you to turn ALL the way around while I feed my baby."

I was shocked. What did she think? DH is such a sicko that he was trying to get a peek? This is HIS house. Shouldn't she have excused herself to go into another one of our rooms if she felt truly uncomfortable? Am I missing something here? We don't have babies (obviously). Should DH have instinctively known to head straight for an enclosed different room once he realized what was going on? Am I crazy for letting this annoy me?

2. Savannah maybe has the best restrooms of any large(r) city I've been in. (JORDAN PAY ATTENTION!) It is a tradition of mine (warning: TMI ahead) to become sick to my stomach on the first day of EVERY vacation, and so I'm forced to rate such things. All of the facilities I visited: restaurants, Starbucks, stores, etc...scored rather high on the flush scale. And yes, I am feeling much better thank you.

3. Creepy ghost tour happening: So, our guide was a young-ish guy who clearly just does the ghost tour thing on the side. I don't think he believed half of the stuff he was saying, and he seemed unsure of many landmarks people would ask him about (aside from his exact tour route).

I didn't have much faith in this guide, and I thought we'd probably thrown our money away. That was until he told us this: Apparently when the tour stops at the local cemetery, people often have trouble with their cameras. They'll start the tour with fresh batteries, but as soon as they near the cemetery, they notice their battery level will become lower, or their camera will just shut off. Cool, huh?

Sure enough, as soon as we neared the cemetery, I was only able to take two shots before the camera flickered with a "BATTERY EXHAUSTED" message and then turned completely OFF! Creepy cool! We walked on to the next square, and magically the camera turned right back on with a full battery level, and we were able to continue taking pics for the rest of the night.

Those are all the things I forgot the first time around.
Creepy ghost tour story, shame about the guide.

The bathroom thing is so funny and weird cause my Mum always jokes about me when I was little. Apparently on every holiday we went on I used to visit every bathroom we came across, and not even to use the loo, apparently I was just fascinated. Weird yes, but I knew how to rate them :rotfl:

The thing with your friend is a bit weird, I would never say something like that to someone in their own house, but hey thats me :confused3

About your friend...I doubt she was worried about your DH trying to "sneak a peek"...it was probably more like she was worried about flashing him...
:rotfl:

Ok, I'm going to interrupt my own Spring Break TR with some new Disney plans. This is for the Oct. trip with my mom.
I've been going around and around with what I should plan for that weekend. Here are the latest plans.

Fri. Oct. 24th:
Check in to POFQ
Dinner at Raglan Road
La Nouba

Sat. Oct. 25th:
Epcot for F&WF
Dinner at Coral Reef (It was going to be Le Cellier, but the menu changes...)
Illuminations

Sun. Oct. 26th:
Breakfast at Kona or Cape May
Mandara Spa @ the Dolphin (thanks to Jordan's TR)
Drive home

I think this will make for a nice quick trip...

Have you used it yet? You know, I made that silly little rule for myself about not using it until I am on vacation! Every now and then I'll sniff the bottles. Pitiful.

I agree with you. So many people think we have lots of time. But we're stuck training and going to meetings.

...and grading papers, and writing lesson plans, and making parent phone calls, and having conferences, and, and, and...

That is funny! I wonder what it was that fascinated you?

Just checking in ;) How have you been lately?

BUSY! I had zero time to Dis this week, so I'm trying to make it up now.

Where we left off: DH and I had just spent day 1 of vacation in Savannah.

Day 2 (Mon. 4/7)
We woke up this morning, had a quick continental breakfast at the hotel, and were on the road bright and early.

Once again the weather was fab:
DSCN1793.jpg

On this day we were relying solely on GPS for our directions. Our ETA was 2:20 pm.

WELL, at some point we got sidetracked by a fast food place called Zaxby's. I had NEVER heard of this place, but I was sucked in by the signs offering Zalads. (Really, I thought this was the funniest thing I'd ever heard, but it might just have been the 5 hours we'd already spent in the car that made it sound so funny.)

Lunch was ok, but the problem came when we started back out on the road, and Little Miss GPS starts getting an attitude. She reconfigures our whole route, and she now has our ETA at 3:45! :scared1: There was no reasoning with her. No amount of button-pushing or address-selecting could appease the GPS gods, so 3:45 would have to do.

Toto, it doesn't look like we're in Florida anymore!

After a quick Super Walmart stop, we finally arrived at our cabin in Spruce Pine, NC.

Isn't it cute?

Finally, some time to relax!

Day 3 (Tues. 4/8)

Oh, the streak of wonderful weather continues!
DSCN1817.jpg

Hmmm, driving on unfamiliar curvy mountain roads in near zero visibility....dangerous? YES!

Some of you sane people might be wondering why DH and I didn't just wait for the fog to lift in the cozy confines of our cute little cabin. You see, the itinerary in the almighty trip binder said we'd leave the cabin at 8:30 am, and gosh darnit, that's the time we were leaving. If one were inclined to get the evil-eye from me, one might say that psycho-schedule BrittBritt was working overtime that morning.

Our first stop was Grandfather Mountain. (The guard at the gate looked at us like we were CRAZY to attempt driving up the mountain in the fog.) About halfway up the mountain, there's a neat area with a bunch of animals.

That's where we met this guy:
DSCN1819.jpg

And these BIG guys:

DSCN1823.jpg

(I had to de-fog these pics in Photobucket!)

After they started doing THIS, we decided it was time to go!
DSCN1827.jpg

We continued driving up to the top of the mountain where we were met by this:
DSCN1842.jpg

THAT my friends is the mile-high SWINGING bridge.
Doubt me? Here's proof:

Here are some pics from the top:

(If you have eagle eyes, you'll notice I'm wearing my lime green baggalini. It was the PERFECT bag to use this whole trip.)

One last shot of the fog. This time from above:

We had no more time to spend at Grandfather Mountain. The binder had other plans for us. Off to hike some waterfalls!

Beautiful pictures, looks like you had a good time.

I have not used the Tink bodywash, I have the same rule as you, it is strictly for vacation. :rotfl: But, we leave in 5 days so not too long to wait :woohoo:

That cabin is cute. Seems so isolated, which is a great way to relax.

Love the photos of the eagle and bears.

Yeah! Brittbritt is back!!!

The plans for the mom trip look great!

We have a Zaxby's here -- it's yummy!

Beautifully stunning wilderness pics, but I have to say:  about the bears!

Here's a tidbit about me: my biggest fear is suspension bridges, so when I saw the pic of the suspension bridge, my heart plummetted, my hands got sweaty, and I went :scared1: ! I am still feeling nauseous! Kudos to you for standing on it!

Looks like you had a fabulous time!

Yes for your trip report, but you have to hurry up and write it its only 7 days till I go to Florida.

Love the pictures, it looks stunning.

Great pictures from your trip! I don't think I could stand on that suspension bridge...:scared1:

Sounds like a very nice quick trip indeed. Have really enjoyed your trip report thus far, cant wait to read more!

Fri. Oct. 24th:
Check in to POFQ

I'm so excited you're going to see La Nouba! I think (I hope) you'll love it!

Isn't it cute?

Super adorable! In the winter it would be so cute to decorate the trees in the front!

That's where we met this guy:
DSCN1819.jpg

Busch Gardens (gasp! Non-Disney, I know!) in Williamsburg has some beautiful Bald Eagles. They've all been wounded and are now in the care of the park.

One last shot of the fog. This time from above:

This is my favorite.
