How many to buy?

Each day we take a step closer to buying into DVC. What is a good amount of points to think of purchasing? (We aren't millionaires!) I was thinking 250. I'm also toying with the idea of resales since they seem to fit into our budget a little more. I've already gotten the book from DVC and am almost ready to call and ask for any paperwork!

250 sounds great. Consider the type of accomdations you prefer. Dh and I prefer 1 bedrooms, even with just the two of us. But, when we want to stretch it out, we stay in a studio. It is nice to have options.
We initially bought in at 150 and have already added on twice (in one year).
Wish we could've bought more in the beginning, but we aren't millionaires either!

Buy whatever fits your family and your budget! Owning in DVC is the best thing we ever did! Good luck!

It's hard to make a recommendation (or even give an opinion) without knowing what size accomodations you think you will need. Are you thinking of a studio (sleeps 4, although some rooms will accomodate 5), a 1 Bdrm (sleeps 4) or a 2 Bdrm (sleeps 8)? Also, what time of the year do you think you will be visiting? Points (cost of the rooms) vary according to season. Will you be visiting once a year, once every other year or ?????

We're not millionaires either (I wish, LOL), so cost was an important factor to us. We looked at the point charts and determined 200 to 250 points would work for us. Then we compared the cost of that with what we were already spending for rooms and DVC turned out to be a bargain. Whatever you end up deciding will be right for your family.
