How many swimsuits to pack?

We only pack one for each of us and I have never had a problem with wet suits. We pull out the drying line in the tub area and hang them up on there.

Emily

I find that when we hang them on the drying line in the bathroom...they don't dry! They dry quicker if you hang them in the open closet area. More air movement there.

Throw one in the suitcase and one in the carry-on. That's what we do. :thumbsup2

I am shocked this was the first time this was recommended...I always pack at LEAST two so that one is in my carry-on and one is checked...bec what if you bag gets lost or is delayed..you would hate to be without ANY!?!? THey take up such little room prob very lttle diff between 1 and 2! :confused3

That's excatly why we do it. Before our first trip someone had mentioned to pack the swimsuits in the carry-on since it can take a few hours for ME to get you your luggage. We never plan to go to the parks on arrival day, so when we do get there, this gives us-the kids-something to do (swimming that is :)).

At this point, if one of our bags gets lost, we'll have lots more problems than not having swimsuits! We are checking only two bags for our family of four. If a bag gets lost, we're essentially scrooged! Just gotta keep fingers crossed that doesn't happen! :lmao:

Our carryon is already packed full. Honestly, NOT EVEN room for four more swimsuits. It is PACKED...every pocket, every space, FULL!

Everyone in our family only owns two suits. So, that is the most I *could* bring.

We'll see...I guess I could pack one set of suits in one checked bag, and another in the other one.

Usually we have 4 carry-ons total, one for each person. One is the traditional suitcase, (DH is responsible for this one) type-extra change of clothes, pjs, swimsuits, and the video camera and regular camera gear stuff. I have a bag that carries all our plane snacks, sunglasses, ipods/Nintendo DS (mine and DH's, kids carry their own), any meds, band-aides, important papers and my travel purse. DD12 and DS4 each have a school size backpack with things to entertain them (ipods/NinDS/colorwonder/books/wordsearches/etc.) on the plane and in DD's case homework for our last trip (went during school). *Extra swimsuits for them could easily fit into a pocket of a backpack-honestly we could probably put one of ours and one of the kids swimsuits in the outside pockets of their backpacks.

HTH

We do technically have four carryon bags, but two of them are backpacks for the kids with stuff for the 5 HOUR plane ride! They are only 4 and 5 years old, so they are going to need LOTS to keep busy. We have a 22" suitcase carryon, which is the one packed full at the moment with pj's, some clothes, and all our electronic gear. My husband will have a small tote with the REST of our electronics and chargers. I will have my "park bag" which will contain snacks, wipes, and our lunches for the flight (we won't be getting real food on the plane, and we'll be on it over lunch time, so we have to pack lunch).

I think I'll be able to squeeze the suits somewhere. I hope. Even though we are using DME, we'll still have to manage ALL our stuff from the car to the airport, and then back home again. We will have a stroller, two kids (who both need constant attention to prevent wandering), two backpacks (that the kids may or may not be able to manage alone), a carryon suitcase, a tote, my bag, a HUGE duffel, and a HUGE suitcase. We cannot take more!

Sadly, the forecast isn't seeming to be conducive to lots of swimming. Hope we can get in enough to satisfy the kiddos. They REALLY are looking forward to the water parks.

We try to take 2 each, 1 to wear 1 to dry, but last year I had trouble finding an appropriate suit for my 12 year old who is quite developed, so she only had 1. We hung it to dry on the cord that pulls across the shower and it was always dry in the morning. So....I guess you can do with 1. :thumbsup2

Off-topic...I have the exact same problem! DD12 plays select softball (pitcher/catcher) and swims, so she very 'muscly' across her shoulders and she is quite developed also (doesn't fit in a juniors XL-too small). I've lucked out and gotten 2 this year for her that are appropriate. Both are tankini tops one was from Target and one was from Kohl's. Both are long enough and have an extra strap across the back so I can adjust the 'cups' so it fits her and I don't have to worry about her falling out. Dd wasn't a tankini fan, but these ones she liked and since the bottoms are separate we are able to get a good fit. :thumbsup2

We only each have one therefore we only pack one per person.

This year I will use a little more foresight. I waited til November (in Philly) to try to find a suit. I didn't want to pay a ton, so it was hard to find one that was cheap and age appropriate. We usually do tankinis too

Well, 1/4 of my problem is solved. I just tried on my old swimsuit (my "other" one) and it didn't quite fit as well as it did last year. I have gained about 5 lbs, but it's enough to make a difference. So, I, at least, will be taking only ONE suit...

We are a 2 per person family. If we swim in the morning, go out in the afternoon/early evening and then want to swim in the evening, we need 2.

I hate the feeling of putting on a clammy, not quite dry swimsuit. Ewwwwww.
