How many swimsuits to pack?

Is one swimsuit enough for everyone? Or, do you pack two per person?

We are going to WDW on Friday, and I'm starting to pack. We need to keep it down to two checked bags, and I'm really trying to minimize packing. After seeing how much space ONE swimsuit/rashguard takes for each of the four of us, plus water shoes, plus goggles, cover ups, etc., I'm debating taking a second suit for everyone.

Do you think we can get by with just one suit each? Where is the best place to hang them to dry so we can use them every day and they won't be wet? In the room? Balcony?

Good question. My daughter wants to bring two with her. A 1-piece for the water parks and other areas. And a 2-piece for the resort pool.

We always take 2 per person. Sometimes they dont have enough time to dry before you are using them again.

I'm a light packer and one suit for each of us is just dandy. Not sure where you're staying, but you can hang to dry on the patio or in the shower (the rooms we stay in always have a line you can pull open inside the shower for hanging suits to dry). Mainly I use the patio...in the hot Florida sun they dry so quickly!

Another packing tip: use 2 gallon Ziplocks for your clothing. When you press out all the air you can pack tons more stuff into the suitcase. It works so well you have to be careful not to go over the weight limit!

Unless you're headed to a waterpark I wouldn't bring water shoes for everyone. Sandals or any slip on is good enough for getting to the pool and back.

But DH and I always bring one.

This time we will be using the pools more than heading to the parks so they will each have four suits.

We'll be doing water parks, so we def. need the water shoes.

We'll be staying @ Beach Club, so we'll have a balcony. Also, I honestly don't mind putting on a damp suit if we're just going to the resort pool.

I guess I could always use the hair dryer if they're too wet to comfortably put on.

We always stay DVC so have access to dryers and only take one suit each. It can take forever for them to just air dry in florida!

However, honestly, how much room does an extra suit really take? All our suits fold up pretty tiny. You only need 1 set of all the other stuff (goggles, watershoes, coverups, etc) and a second suit won't really take up that much more room!

Swimsuits can be packed in the suitcase corners, in shoes, in all the little spaces between any awkwardly-shaped thing - i.e. it's so easy to bring an extra suit for each of the kids.

Good point! I think I'll keep it as a possibility and then at the end, if I can fit them in, I will.

Remember that suits don't dry as well in Orlando as you might be used to at home. The effect is even noticeable between coastal Florida and Orlando; the humidity in Orlando is usually so high that wet garments take quite a while to dry, even when sitting in the sun.

Also, consider that you only have a balcony if you're staying at a Deluxe; you'll have to try to dry them indoors at other resorts. The best method is to stack a couple of towels, lay the suit out flat on them, then roll up the suit and towels together and stomp on the bundle for awhile to draw out as much moisture as possible before hanging them up to dry.

We always end our WDW trips with swimming, then change and head for the airport; if you do this, carry on the damp suits -- they weigh rather a lot more when they are damp, and they can put your checked baggage over the weight limit. (And be sure to rinse out all sand from the linings -- THAT weighs a ton.)

We take two each due to the humidity in the air...takes FOREVER for anything to air dry. If you're not swimming more than, oh, twice a day, though, you'll probably be ok with one.

Maybe it's the swim suit fabric??? I drape our suits over the balcony chairs and they dry super quick in Orlando. It's only a problem if a sudden afternoon squall comes up and everything gets blown around and wet again.

Between water parks and the wonderful pool at BCV you'll probably be spending a lot of time in the water; 2 suits might be preferable.

I always pack 2. I hate putting on a wet suit and sometimes we will be at the pool twice in one day. Besides, swimsuits really don't take up that much room. I can shove them into just about any space.

Depends where you are from. It is warm enough for us Canadian types to swim!

We are packing two suits (but this is our first trip with the kids so YMMV).

OMG - am I the only one who packs lots of swimsuits?

I bring four, DH brings two, for ds I pack 5 and for the dds I pack about 7! Of course we do stay for over two weeks.

We have an inground pool at home and they live in swimsuits - that's why they have so many.

We only pack one for each of us and I have never had a problem with wet suits. We pull out the drying line in the tub area and hang them up on there.

We bring two each. That way we will always have a dry one.
I know a guy who brings one for each day of his vacation.....
