Do you pack? I'm trying really hard to only pack the necessities. But as of now I have one large check-in bag and three carry-ons for 3 people. 2 weeks and 4 bags... I guess that's not too bad.

I always over-pack. I don't want to be without anything!

I will start packing today, so I hope this to be true...I'm going to try to go with Carry Ons. In the past, we would do 3 checked bags for 4 people (up to two weeks). This trip it is just me and my daughter and is an unexpected trip after our WDW trip at Spring Break. In order to save $, I have decided to go with Carry Ons. This means that I will have to be very careful...the first part of the trip is to Disney and the second part is for work (two different types of clothing!).

I have always been an over-packer, but have started to go with less and really haven't missed out on anything. I have even been known to do a load of clothes while at the pool. In the past this would have bothered me, but now it's fun to drink wine and fold clothes... :)

That's why we drive down. First of all, it takes just as long to fly down as it does to drive when you add in taking the airporter to the airport, getting there early and then all the time at the airport on the other end and finding a bus or rental...

And our car is packed. A case of water, pillows, snacks, (our own coffee maker ;) ) I've been wondering how I'm going to bring so little when we fly to WDW in a few years. :rotfl:

I have 5 people packed in 5 carry-ons. I have also packed (in Ziplock bags) the Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets. I know I will do a load or two of laundry. We decided to pack less so we'd have more money to play with at Disneyland ;)

We were going to do 1 carry on each, and then it went to 1 checked bag and 1 carry on suitcase, now it's 2 checked bags. I had the best of intentions but I tend to bring a lot. And I have a teenage girlie-girl.

I was trying for all carry-ons. It just kills me to pay $25 a bag. What's tripping us up is the second leg of our trip in San Diego. It will be jeans and sweatshirt weather at night. And that takees up a ton of room in the suitcase. At least for us. DH is a BIG DUDE!

We're even doing laundry at the CCI. Yet, I'm at 4 bags and still packing. Not to mention my crutches, boot and ankle brace. ARGH!!!

I have a tendency to underpack - and it's come back to bite me a few times. I went to WDW for a business convention last November. Not big deal, 3 nights, small carry-on suitcase (half full, so I could bring back souvies) and a backpack. 3 pairs no-iron dress pants, 3 dressy (but no-iron) short sleeve shirts and a light jacket. Yeah, except it was freakin' cold there! :headache: I spent the whole trip wishing I'd brought a sweater, but refusing to pay $40+ for one at the resort (and still having to deal with it in my luggage). You'd think I'd have learned my lesson, but I underpacked sleeves again for my last DL trip...:sad2:

The Dobies do one checked bag each. Heavy carry ons are just too much for the girl Dobies to manage at the airports. We tend to pack light in our big checked bags so we have room for the spoils of souvenier foraging.

For myself, I will pack two pair of shorts and one pair of capris (I wear capris on the flight.) I will take one top per day, and a couple of extra ones, but I roll them up tight so they take little room. All the toiletries I need are toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen and hand lotion. I will take a fat paperback also. I will also wear a hoodie onto the plane so I can use it as a pillow.

What about when you change clothes mid-day? That's two outfits a day plus jacket. Argh! My check-in is at 44.5 pounds and I haven't added bathroom items yet.

We always change clothes mid day at disneyland--especially in the summer. You feel so grimey and sweaty, otherwise. We typically go back to our room mid day and everyone showers and we change clothes. It feels so much better.

I would never just do carry on bags. For one thing, I feel badly taking up the space on the overhead compartment. Next, I see any cost as just the price of taking a trip. We typically take Southwest when we fly, and you get one bag to check in for free, so that problem is solved. It is important to look into that before booking a flight--or at least calculate the cost of checked bags.

Since we live in the Bay Area, we often just drive--which takes the worry out of it.

We will each have a carry on and my DH and I will share a suitcase and our DD will share one as well.. Then we usually bring another for all the goodies we pick up.. And first bag is free with Jet Blue... We will be staying 8 nights and we plan on going to Target to pick up shampoo,etc.. Diapers for the little one, etc...

I have extra shorts and extra shirts because I'm never sure what I will feel like wearing on a certain day! :rotfl: I packed one pair of capris but thinking maybe I should do two just in case because it looks like it will be cooler in the evenings since it is only getting to 79 or 80 during the day. And one light sweater and one zip up hoodie and 3 pairs of tennis shoes, 1 pair of sandals, and one pair of flats. See why we drive? :rotfl2:

That is A LOT of shoes. My kinda gal. :thumbsup2 I'm only bringing 2 pair, both croc sandals. No cute shoes for me with the ankle injury.

I'm sticking with one check-in... 49 pounds. And, the three carry-ons. I have a duffle for bringing stuff home. I am officially packed!!!!

Awww. That's too bad. :sad2: Just stay comfy. Mainly I wear tennis shoes there, that's why I'm bring three pairs.

One carry on and one personal item per person! I refuse to pay for checked luggage! We even went to Hawaii for a week with no checked luggage! I always tell my girls there are stores everywhere and we can always buy what we may forget! We have been travelling a lot lately and everyone knows the drill and is responsible for their own stuff. I always take all the electronics, laptop, DSL camera, phone chargers etc. Works for us!

We will be taking 2 checked bags and 10 carry ons plus a couple personal items for our party of 11. I just can't afford to check all bags this time. My checked bag will have our life jackets, some food, medications, make up, shampoo, curling iron etc. We are packing light in our carry ons. Do you think it will get chilly at night? We are all bringing a zip up hoody but no pants.

I have been stalking the weather fro my upcoming trip next week. It seems to 60ish in the evenings, mid 70's in the day time. I am bringing one pair of jeans and a hoodie, as well as some capris. My girls will probably wear shorts most of the time and maybe jeans at night. Of course it has been in the mid 90's here all week! We always go back to the hotel late afternoon to swim, rest, snack and change!

See it's the weather that gets me. Jeans take up a lot of valuable room in the suitcase. I packed some for me, but the guys don't get that cold and will be fine with a jacket and shorts.

So glad I just read this thread!! We haven't flown since 03 and didn't know they charge to check now! Guess we will be downsizing. That should be fun! Anyone traveling with car seats and strollers??
