We are a family of four and only check 2 suitcases. A large one and a medium to smaller one for the kids. Just wondering.

Delta lets us check-in 2 ea
but this yr I need to make sure they are something DS & myself can handle on our own

we are a family of four and i try not to check any....we all can take carry on.....so we do that...but if we check any its one big one...that isnt full so we can bring back all the stuff we buy.. :teeth:

There is 2 of us and we take 2 and a carry on. We have things like a collapsible cooler, food, ect. We will have a little room left over for stuff we want to bring back.

I must be the overpacker here. For our family of 6 we checked 6 suitcases (3lg,3med) and carried on 4 backpacks, 1 small suitcase and two duffles.

I am also an over-packer. My DH and usually each check one suitcase, and then we each have our carry-ons. But this year, we're also bringing a small suitcase to pack some snacks that I bought (cereal, popcorn, cookies, etc.) I usually shop a lot- this way we have extra room for souvenirs and/or dirty clothes.

2 suitcases plus one carry-on for 2 adults.

You are checking in exactly the same amount we do for a family of four. Then we have one carry on and my purse. It's a pretty great way to travel!!

I bought the biggest suitcase I could find- thinking better to have lots of room then having to take 2 bags. We are flying American Airlines and the suitcase has the AA logo on it. My husband took it with him on a business trip and had to pay $25 surchage because it was 15 pounds over the 50 pound limit. The suitcase by itself probably weighs close to the extra weight. I had thought the limit was 70 pounds but it seems like it changed. I would rather take 2 medium sized ones but I just bought this big one! My kids will each take change of a 19" rolling suitcase with their stuff in them, 1 one large one for me and extras and we will carry on a backpack each with stuff for the plane. I will take a duffle bag to check at the airport and put stuff in it for the plane ride and then consolidate it all into the one suitcase for the duration of our trip.

Two rolling suitcases for 2 people, one largeish, one medium. I pack a flatpack bag in one of the suitcases for coming home (for goodies:-) I have a brilliant photograph of our suitcase coming home from DLP 2 years ago with the 7 dwarfs completely filling the bottom of the case! We also take one carry on backpack to keep us entertained during flights/layovers etc and also to carry those things I don't want to leave in checked luggage

We check 2 bags going down....and 3 coming back from Disney!!! Each child will have a small backpack...and we have 1 carry-on w/ the cameras, toiletries, bathing suits for all, and PJs for all just in case! Oh yes, then there is my purse....and a diaperbag!

We're leaving on Saturday and there are 2 adults, 2 children going. We're checking in 3 bags...1 lg, 1med, and 1 small bag. We'll bring 3 backpacks on as carry-on bags.

we are a family of 2 adults, 1 child and we usually check 1 lg. and 1 19" for dd11. we then carry on video/camera bag and 2 backpacks. :earseek:

I fly 10 times a year for work and have learned to pair down my wardrobe to be able to carry on one suitcase. That way, everything is with you and you don't have to wait when you get to the airport. The new Express service slated to begin in May may change my thinking, however. If my luggage will "magically" appear at POFQ, I might just do it!

Small suitcase for dd, a larger one for me. I also checked her carseat in a HUGE bag. So that's 3.

For 2 adults and an 11 y/o...1 larger suitcase, 2 smaller pilots type get checked. Then my dd and I each have a totebag that we use for carryon. In those we have clean undies, bathing suits, water, meds, passes/confirm. numbers, cash. Dh usually carries the camera case. But, we may be able to do away with the larger case and do 3 pilots suitcases in June since we won't be bringing any food this time.

The thing we try to do is to pack a little for each person in each bag. That way, if one gets 'misplaced' someone doesn't lose all their stuff in that one bag.

We bought a big suitcase too, thinking we could manage dragging that and a smaller carry-on size while still lugging the two rugrats with us. It was manageable, but also costly because the big suitcase was well over the weight limit (extra $25 for American). And with DW being the pack rat she is-- wanting to bring home a $3 box of dishwasher detergent-- we also barely exceeded the NEXT higher weight limit (about 70 lbs) on our return flight. Needless to say, the box of dishwasher detergent went straight into the trash can at the Orlando airport. That 5 pound weight reduction saved us another $25.
