We live in MD and I am kinda tossing the idea around of MAYBE :confused3 (okay you know how much I change my mind :rotfl:) driving to WDW next summmer and stopping off at HH for 2 nights on our way to WDW. This would break our trip up and we would also get to experience another DVC resort.

SO....how far a drive is it from HH to WDW???? We live between D.C. and Baltimore so I think it is about a 14 hour drive if you drive it straight through. Is HH half way for us? I have no idea. :rotfl2:

I would love advice/tips on this possible trip. I know nothing about HH.

Hi everyone!

We may be traveling WITH the OP next summer...so I'm interested all responses as well. :yay:

We take 2 weeks every august and drive from NJ. We stay the 1st week in HH and then drive to OKW for the 2nd week. The drive from HH to WDW is about 5 hrs give or take depending on traffic. It's really not a bad ride at all.:thumbsup2

We did this on a Wednesday in May this year. We were left Hilton Head at exactly 9:00 AM and we arrived at WDW at 3:10 PM with only one 15-minute pit-stop for lunch.

See that sounds great to me. I just have to figure out how far a drive it is from MD. :goodvibes Still looking for a HH address

We live in Orlando and we travel to Maryland (Baltimore and Eastern Shore) several times a year. We often stop at HH on our way up to MD or on our way home. It takes between 8 and 9 hours to get to HHI from Baltimore.

The address is: 22 Harbourside Lane, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928

Once you get off I95 onto Hwy 278, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the resort.

My DH and I spend alot of time at WDW but we LOVE HHI. I'm sure you will too.

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This really makes me want to stay there maybe coming and going. LOL

We're doing it this year! We spent a week at HHI last year and loved it. So for this year's WDW trip, we'll travel from PA to HHI, stay two nights, and then on to BLT for two nights, and then our home resort, BCV.

Can't wait!

I have gone to HHI for a week and then Disney for a week. Last year we did Disney the first week and HHI the second week. We liked this a lot better. A nice relaxing vacation after a hectic week in the World.

That's exactly what we are doing this August. WDW for 4 nights (would have liked at least 5/6) and then start our drive home with a stop of 3 nights at HH (of course 4/5 nights would have been even better ;) - we can relax and make a stop before the long drive home. It will give us a chance to see how much we like HH so we can stay there again (and VB) in the near future.

Make sure to take the 2 lane road from Hilton Head to Savannah instead of I95. Its a very pleasant ride.

This might sound silly, but we have never been there, do you mean on the way home to NY from Hilton Head, take the two lane road or if we happen to make a day drip to Savannah to take the 2 lane road from Hilton Head there?

TIA.

We live in Maryland, too. The drive to HH is about 10 hours, but then you have to exit and drive almost another 45 min., depending on traffic, I think.

We always drive to WDW and have done this several times. We prefer stopping off at DVC-HHI on our way back home because it's nice to get some real relaxation & unwinding in after being at the World and it makes the Disney magic last a bit longer for us :goodvibes

iirc HHI is about 600 miles from DC area; it's about 800 from where we live here in NY & takes us about 14 hours with gas/food stops - I'd think you'd be about 9 - 10 hour drive. As others here have said HHI is about 5 hrs from WDW.

Definitely do it ::yes:: You'll  it !!

You may want to look at Google maps. I think the main road was SR17, but others as well. Anyway, it is pretty rural, with the road draped with a canapy of trees in part. However, using this route you will definitely go over the big bridge to get in Savannah.

The road really gets you in the mood for Savannah, as opposed to I95 that looks like an interstate highway located in anywhere, USA. I think it may be busier during the morning or evening rush, but otherwise...it is a lovely drive...and I'm usually the 1st person to get on the interstate highway. The other part of it...if you look at the map, you will see that I95 is kind of out of the way...making the scenic drive a bit more appealing.

As for the rest of your trip...by all means...USE the INTERSTATE!!

I can't imagine driving from Orlando to New York on 2 lane roads.
